Yeah its totally Eakins fault that the goalies cant stop anything smaller than a basketball. I realize that the team should totally be scoring 4-5 goals every game to make up for that and ffs how (frank)ing long are we going to blame coaches for in Edmonton? ITS NOT A COACHING ISSUE. - TheTaoOfSemenko
If the coach knows his goalies can't stop a beach ball, then he should have the rest of the team playing solid d and helping out in their own end. Duby was solid last year, but the results were the same. So maybe you shouldnt be so quick to pin it all on the goalie. The coach has to take some blame in this. |

Ahhh gotcha.
Is it a deep draft? Any studs up this year? - Beer11
I've read a weak draft overall. Reinhardt and Ekblad to battle it out for 1st. Ekblad is better then Jones. Edm could sure use him.

this is a better team overall than last year.
the biggest difference is the goaltending we've been getting. without a doubt
didn't deserve our fate against Winnipeg or Toronto. maybe even montreal. and shoulda at least been in this game till late. we had them doubled in shots at one point.
yes, our defence needs to be better, but goaltending has been our Achilles heel in almost every game

Caps barely had any shots. Oilers let in something like 4 goals on 10 shots ehhhh? Drug test the goalies. |

Look up the shot totals allowed this year and tell me this again. The defence has not been the issue. The forwards have scored. Also not an issue. Want to know what is an issue? When you're playing well and have the knowledge that no matter what you do the goaltender will let you down. I can and will place pretty much all the blame at the foot of goaltending. They allowed 20 (frank)ing shots tonight. What else should the D have done? Stood in triple formation in front of the net so the pucks just hit a wall? |

Its hard to just look at the stats. In the oilers games I've seen this season, guys are not covered a lot. Point blank opertunities, open nets etc. Its goaltending and d. Forwards, and I mean all 4 lines need to put more effort into d as well |

I dunno.
he's standing on his head thus far this year apparently. but only getting 1 goal of help a night.
he's got a vezina not too long ago too. he has been great in the past. was average last year tho.
but he couldn't possibly be worse than what we've been given thus far.
we're not even looking for goalie to steal games at this point. just give us a chance. I think he could do that |

What gives in Edmonton. It is tough to watch. Year 5 of the rebuild and it is much of the same. Is it a coaching staff/strategy problem or a management issue? |

not one fan in oilerville. (and ill wager the players too) has the confidence that our goalie can hold a lead for us, make the big save etc.
and rightly so from what we've seen.
everytime the puck is in our end and there's even the slightest opportunity for a reasonable scoring chance, im white knucking the remote control.
hell, forget reasonable. any shot at all |

its everyone not playing good but the coach is the one who will be gone first, Mac T come down from GM and coach this team already. Dub kept us in a lot of games last year we shouldn't have been in don't know whats wrong with him this year.
1 5 1 and we play pitt tomorrow most likely 1 6 1 ouch this could be along year |

20 shots. 4 goals. Last game: 26 shots. 6 goals allowed. Game before that. 27 shots. 4 goals allowed. noticing a theme? I realize its become quite trendy in recent years with good reason to dump on the Oils defence but the D has not been the issue. Tending is without a doubt the top concern with turnovers a distant second. |
