Not exactly. When they score 4 or 5 or 6 goals in a game and then watch their goalies let in fluffies to actively lose the game you can absolutely point the finger in one direction. Like I said before, it's become trendy the last few years to crap on the Oilers D but they've actually played fine. When you allow a lousy 20 shots and lose by 3 goals there is a very definite area to blame. - TheTaoOfSemenko
I'm not denying the fact that goaltending is weak...it is...
And who said anyone is craping on the Oilers D? That's not the real issue...the real issue is backchecking, turnovers, and defensive zone coverage of the forwards...RNH, Eberle, Hall and the like...
That, and goaltending... |
|

ales and hall have been taking care of that themselves. everyone needs to take off the blinders.... this is the whole team losing..... - derm10
The Vancouver game yes. The other games sorry I just cant agree. |

First blog of yours I actually enjoyed! If the Oiler trade Yakupov it will be a HUGE mistake! This kid is going to be a superstar! |

no no no u have it all wrong... goal against could never be related to forwards.. they are the ones that score goals. they score ... then it's the goalies and d's job to stop the puck. |

OK those I'll grant haven't been great. Still, with even average goaltending the W/L column looks different right now. To me, it's easily the biggest area of concern. Im actually stunned its been as bad as it has. |

Oh believe me the D has been responsible for a lot of individual errors, they are part of the issue. |

I have a feeling were gonna see a trade come out of left field soon ( sorta like the the 05 trade that landed us Pronger ). Before any of you Richard heads say such and such team would never trade such and such player, remember that every player in the NHL is on the market for the right price. (frank) Bryzgalov or Miller, Mac T should see what it takes to land Quick, Lundqvist or Rinne. - Jeropotato
just cause what u say is true. doesn't make it any more plausible.
we aint getting quick.
we aint getting rinne.
looks like trouble in ny, so I suppose lundqvist isn't totally out of the realm of possibility. but still an absolute longshot.
miller on the other hand has been playing brilliantly by all accounts, and is more than likely gonna get moved at some point. what's wrong with sticking to reality?
we don't even need a game changer right now (not to say miller isn't---and of course that's what we want. but we just need someone to give us a chance) |

I agree. I guess I'm just trying to argue that its a whole team thing...not just a one dimensional (goalie) thing.
EDIT: And I think a lot more attention should be paid to the forwards...bc clearly not enough blame is being placed. They've played horrendous thus far. |

So what? What good is a superstar on a team that doesn't make the playoffs? Stamkos can take his 60 goals and stick them in his ass every June when he's in the middle of his well earned vacation. |

lots of problems of course.
but jesus. what are we even debating?
better goaltending and we don't lose to Winnipeg or Toronto.
maybe not even montreal. but ill wont argue that one much
Imo, we can conservatively say we're 3-3 right now with a solid goalie in net |

Until you fix the main issue, the other stuff will continue to suffer.
"Work harder guys! Backcheck more! Play defence constantly!"
"Shouldn't we score goals?"
"No cause if you do the goalie will be scared and let in muffins."
"...fml.." |

I think there's some bad luck involved with the goaltending. But getting just average goaltending would gloss over a few of the negatives. |

Honestly, no clue. I have a fleet of work phones, so it's really endless. Systemtool and Canadianinput are my favourites, then Gunslinger. Beer11 and Stinkfist and this one are my shyte ones. Can't remember the others. Sadly, I can't access the Canadianinput one because it was old school and i had two names under that number. |

Ok. So you bring in a better 1G...how different do you think the situation would be? Maybe they win 1 or 2 more games so far? At the end of the day, without team defence, and your young forwards buying into backchecking as hard as they go in the other teams zone, the team is going no where long term.
