Elliot sucks. He wasn't good enough in Ottawa. He wasn't good enough in Colorado. He lost his job to Jake Allen last year and almost ended up on waivers and all of a sudden he's good?
He's not good. He's bad but looks good in the best defensive system in the NHL. - DTF69
Elliot had one good year, and a bunch of sh1t years. How people believe he's an upgrade from Dubnyk is beyond me. And yes, I know Dubnyk sucks so far his year... |

oshie >>> backes and jake allen will probably develop into a goalie that can be mentioned in the same breath as lundqvist, quick, rask, etc.
oshie is a guy that can skate down the wing with the puck, lay the opposing defenseman the fck out, pick the puck back up, skate towards the net again and snipe it bar down. - rangerdanger94
(frank) that. Backes is twice the player Oshie is.
You never know with goaltenders. Is he Corey Schneider or Al Montoya or Leland Irving? No one knows. Maybe he comes in like Brian Boucher and goes just as fast. Maybe he turns into Ryan Miller. Or he could be Halak or Lehtonen. |

The year that Halak and Elliot won the Jennings they faced collectively like only 200 more shots across a full season than Mike Smith did all by himself.
But yeah, its not the system that makes them look so good. |

all fans overvalue their own players. st. louis wouldn't make that trade.
the oilers have to trade an upcoming star like eberle or rnh or yak if they are to get better. it's as simple as that. there's too much young talent and not enough of anything else. fans will say no to everything or ask for other team's stars like mcdonaugh which won't happen either if you're a ranger fan unless hall goes the other way. - therealagent
If we're trading a Hall, Eberle, Yak, or Nuge, we're getting a proven, set-in-stone, bonafied starter or #1 Dman in return. No questions asked. |

Oshie is among the most underrated in the NHL IMO. He's strong defensively, physically, and offensively. He's got some silky mitts when he gets an opportunity to use them. Frankly, I'd put him about on the same level as Backes. |

I wouldn't even do it for a starter. The list would be like Pietrangelo and Doughty. |

oil need to do what colorado did years ago. get a proven number one guy even if his name is ryan miller. the attitude of the team changes immediately when there's a guy like that in the net. i think dub will be a very good career backup like biron was at the very worst and he may likely be better. if i were in their shoes, i'd send yak to buffalo in a package for miller. both teams need big time help and despite their record the sabres have a lot of interesting pieces. i think there's a deal to be made. |

Sorry. A bonafide starter + an adequate replacement for the hole we open. So... Hiller + Palmieri for Eberle (Hemsky and Yak move up opening up the 3RW slot). |

Yup. Backes is a beast, I hate that (frank)er but I'd take him on my team erryday. Refs seem to love giving him the benefit of the doubt on his cross checks and boarding as well, but I bet he'd lose that benefit with the Oilers or Nucks. |

straight up yea but i don't think your GM says no to a mcdonagh + kreider deal. you get arguably the 2nd best young Dman in the league behind OEL (if not better) who currently holds the NHL record for most ice time in a game in NHL history on an extremely cap friendly deal (which adds to his value considering your pretty large contracts with eberle, RNH, gagner, and soon yakupov) PLUS a winger that might not only be faster than hall, but bigger and can potentially net 30+ a year consistently if he reaches his potential.
it's a good hockey deal. sometimes you have to make high risk high reward deals to get to the next level. i don't blame you for not wanting to make the deal, but i think it's very fair value. |

David Backes > Oshie. Its not a discussion. - DTF69
Backes' offense isn't quite as good as I think you think it is. Don't get me wrong, he's elite on defense and is a beauty in front of the net and in the corners, but beyond that, his passing ability is somewhat lacking and his shot isn't what I'd call a strength. He doesn't have very deft hands, either. Do you know who plays with Backes in almost every situation and has for the past 2.5 years? TJ Oshie. |

Players like Oshie are more common than players like Backes, even if Oshie is the better pure offensive player and not a softie himself. |

no chance. oilers don't want lack and edler for yak straight up is a rip off. if you want to shake up the canucks, pay attention to this.
edler for helm, smith, nyquist. wings would turn him into a norris candidate.
kesler, burrows, bieksa, tanev for stepan, mcdonaugh, staal.
