Damn, that's a big difference from 2011 to 2012... - laughs2907
Huge, that's why more people need to register or at the very least, make it known to their loved ones so they can speak up for them if the time comes. |

Except when Gagner comes back he'll get sent down because Eakins will want someone who can finish those gifts. Also He'd be terrible on the 4th line so he gets sent down - nagasadow
All players have times when they cannot bury the puck... It's not that he isn't capable of doing it, it's just that he's been unlucky in that area. Definitely has more positives than negatives in his game so far... |

I'm a donor... If it's no good to me, it's better off helping someone else.
We actually did an ethics assignment on that a couple of years ago. It was on whether or not automatically opting people into being donors would be ethical or not... What other suggestions would you recommend etc... I believe, if you don't indicate yes or no, they assume no? |

I looked online and couldn't find the donor registry that's been mentioned on here before... little help on that pls.
Also, I'm fine with donating my leftovers if it's gonna save someone's life, but I don't feel like being a corpse for students to prod (had enough that while I've been alive). Alternatives? |

Completely agree... When I signed on, I believe it was just yes or no... You'd think there would be more questions than that. I'm with you 100% on the student thing. |

I believe this to be true as well but they do ask the family as well. Sometimes people discuss it and give their view on whether or not they want to be donors but just don't get the paper work done. There was a case recently out in Edmonton where a young man wasn't officially registered but the mother said they had talked about it a few months earlier when they were on a road trip together. She said he would donate his organs if he could and she agreed to the procedure to harvest his organs. The young man saved 8 lives. |

Maybe it's cause I'm Albertan, but that sounds like commie poop from BC. You (some bureaucratic agency) don't get to assume you own my parts when I die. |

If you say what you are willing to donate and what for, they will put that on the file and respect your wishes. I know some people that are organ donors for everything but their eyes. |

I feel the same way... I took the side of "not opting people in" but I made suggestions that those who did not specify should be contacted and asked. I don't remember the numbers, but I'm pretty sure the % of those who did not specify "yes" or "no" was huge. |

Yeah, I really think it should switch to assume YES if not otherwise indicated.
Seems almost odd that it's not that way. If you do in fact have deep reasons why you would check NO in that box well that's fine but make it a clear NO or otherwise, that's somebody Else's large intestine. |

I think it came down to the government not having any legal rights to your body. Something like that... I said assume NO, if not specified, but I think those who did not specify should be contacted (and required) to give a YES or NO answer. |

I've already told my wife that if my parts can save a life in my death, take what you need, but I haven't had a AHC card in like 10 years to sign. I think it's a great idea to have a NGO organ donor society manage the list, wish AB had one. |

I quickly realize I'm oversimplifying for sure but yeah and I like governments to be in control of very little...I suppose rather then just assuming YES - all attempts to contact family immediately should be vetted.
Geez, we can bicker back and forth on political and economical demagoguery and altruism but this stuff still seems like a no brainer.
Ah well... |
