Since I think we all pretty much assume Mr. Snider will force the GM to make a trade with some splash, who would everyone give up from the current team for the following:

Vanek
Yakupov

Well being optimistic, or pessimistic doesn't really change what happens on the ice, but it's too early in the season to abandon ship now. Lots of hockey yet to be played.

You're right it doesn't. But being optimistic sure changes how I feel.

I don't think there is any doubt that the Flyers culture is to try and win every year. And I love that about them. But I think this Snider angle is over stated. I don't believe that he meddles to that level in the personnel decisions.

Nada. I don't think that's a change we need to make.

Neither do I. I think it's the last thing this team needs to do. They need to focus on change within.

Vanek, little right now. We can get him at zero asset cost in the summer if we feel we need him. Yakupov, I'd give BSchenn/Simmonds, Coburn, and a 1st. These players fit Edmonton's bill so perfectly right now that they might do it. Don't lie though, Giroux centering Vanek and Yakupov could be terrifying.

just wondering isn't yakupov going back to KHL if he doesn't strike it big in the NHL?

I'm willing to make a trade but not to gain a forward. At this point I think I'd be willing to promote from within to see if a fresh face could make a difference on the back end.

This team has the malaise.

I want nothing to do with Yakupov. First, apparently the price would be very high and I don't think he's proven he's worth that yet. How could he after half a season? And this year he's getting benched. Is he more trouble than he's worth? Who needs another Zherdev we have to give up a bunch of pieces for?

No, if he was so intent on staying in Russia he'd never have wanted & come over to play in the OHL with Sarnia not at least without giving it a good run in the NHL

I'd gain a forward but one that was probably still in juniors and not ready to join the NHL right now in addition to whatever else came in the trade.

I agree. I'm open to using assets to upgrade the defense. Not to bring in a scoring forward.

Some of the reports on him and comments from Eakins give pause. But he's also very young and probably needs to grow up a little.

He's not playing in the AHL or going back to junior if that's what you're asking. He's apparently balking under Eakins methodology. Eakins was angry enough to bench him in consecutive games. He's not going to change. They'll move him but not for less than a huge deal.

I didn't have any suggestions, just something else to say maybe add into a trade to make it work as an idea.

Doesn't make sense. Edmonton isn't playing him because there's something, some problem with the player they can't fix, yet they'll want a huge return for said player?

Silly hockey.

No doubt. Him being benched and not seeing eye to eye with the coach and organization are potentially troubling, but first and foremost to me is the fact the kid hasn't proven he's worth the speculated price to acquire him. He's got potential...but we've got a team full of those guys.

They have needs obviously. Yakupov has been a good player in the NHL but he's making himself expendable for those pieces. He seemed to fire back at some in the room criticism this week that probably reflects on why he was sat.

"I'm going to play my game. I'm not going to change but maybe play better without the puck, or forecheck more, but I love playing with the puck. I really don't like skating all the time, and forechecking, and hitting somebody every shift. I don't think it's my game."

There are plenty of teams that are drooling over his game that they can get what they need.

Edit: I hope the Flyers aren't one of those teams.

I never thought I would lose as much interest in ice hockey as I have these past 2 seasons, I just don't get any excitement watching this team anymore, its the same ole same ole nothing seems to work and has not for 2years now.

not sure this current roster has the make up or guts to be a effective team, it seems we never recaptured the heart since prongers exit.

at this point I would welcome a blow up such as swapping Giroux for weber trad for a puck hog offensive freak like nail at this point we have nothing to lose

It's one of the things I'm most interested in. How long is it going to take before this fan base turns on Giroux? But how you feel is certainly understandable.

I read in the Edmonton blog a proposal of Hemsky for Coburn.

Yea or Nay?
