I didn't watch the whole game very closely but what I did see in the 2nd & 3rd periods looked like a lot of perimeter play in the o-zone and sitting back trying not to lose in the d-zone. Better than the fire drills I've seen but not fighting for ice by any means. - fnmjoe13

it was ridiculous, the bad coverage, the missed shot attempts,
I really wonder what happens when Berube's record becomes 2-10 or something similar? - puckhead17
Berube should be safe at least until the end of the season. I don't know if any coach is going to turn this team around quickly. I do think they should've given him the interim tag until the end of this year. The multiyear contract was a bit hasty. I wonder if Berube would still have been the choice if Laviolette had been fired at the end of last season. |

In hindsight, maybe having Berube around made Holmgren more comfortable giving Laviolette a full training camp to turn things around, such that he knew if it was going to go bad, he could just hand the thing over to Berube.
Just a thought. |

i agree, but an 82 year old owner wants results now, therefore who knows?
the scary thing is that they didn't hustle & looked inept under the Lavy & they hustle more yet are still inept in other areas under Berube, the "we do look better" I don't really buy, because 1-6 is 1-6.

Maybe. Unfortunately that means that Holmgren was willing to throw away a month of practices and preseason games. Now Berube has to undo a month + of repitition while trying to win games. |

It's a results business. Out of a possible 14 points, they have 2. And that is a game where they were outplayed by the Panthers on the heels of a coaching change. |

yeah, really, you would think you have a 1-5 record & are up 2-1 after 2 & would go "balls out" to grab that game, yet they sat around & watched the puck carrier in the 3rd period, Berube preached play better w/o the puck & it led to playing a hand into losing the 3rd period. |

The team lacks leadership & work ethic. It goes back to the Richards trade. The team has become less & less defensively sound since that trade. After the trade guys started taking their cues from guys like Briere & Jagr who while great on offense don't give much on d. On the 2nd goal Giroux was covering nobody & refused to go after Sedin behind the net. If you give him that kind of time he will find someone opened. If he forces him out Grossmann can cover the front of the net better. Couturier, Read & Talbot are the only forwards that try on both sides on he ice. They should bring back Gagne as they clearly know they need another forward if they were in on Cleary. That would give you an actual 4th line that can play a regular shift. |

Mason stole that game or we would be 0-7, think about that one.
also Tim Thomas was horrible before he was injured, making 2 bad mistakes, it's not like they won one game outplaying the opposition.
When the hell did things get so bad?
I'm stunned & disgusted, as are so many others. |

It's a trainwreck. When things constantly blow up in their face, these are the results. |

Mason has been good this year. Very good. 2.23 gaa, and a .926 save %. He's the least of the teams problems right now. |

Hard for Hall to take a draw, when they don't have a 4th line. Giroux, Schenn, and Couturier took every faceoff besides one. - PLindbergh31
They have a 4th line. And Hall can be sent out on other lines to take defensive draws. |

It's not hasty. They just fired one Coach. Making Berube an interim Head Coach would send the wrong message to the players. They have to know this is the guy, and that it's time to play. |
