So who covers the points?
The defense?
here u go again - puckhead17
Here I go again? LOL Fundamentals of defensive zone coverage. If 4 members of the opposition crash the net, the wings just stand there and guard open ice? Higgins came from the point area that Talbot was covering. He lost vision of the ice and let Higgins go right by him. Talbot needs to collapse on the net and cover Higgins. There wasn't anyone else at the point. Higgins is Talbot's check on that play. |

Berube used a timeout on an icing to rest his players. - MJL
With that tremendous 4th line eating up 3 minutes of icetime, why would the players need rest? |

Man, that stuff won't matter -- it just means they ask you where you want to go, then send you there. Simon Gagne's no-trade only meant he got to choose to go to Tampa Bay. But he wasn't staying in Philadelphia.
Snider would be so POed, I could see him eating chunks of contracts to get guys out of here who don't fit.
They can turn it around, or not. But one thing this cast of characters won't get to do is miss the playoffs a third time. They won't look even remotely the same. - AllInForFlyers
I know it's only still October, but they're on the way to missing the dance again. |

There are rules in the CBA. You can't just eat chunks of contracts to get guys out of here. There is also a Salary Cap in place. |

I am still not going to panic, still believe it will get better. They did some pretty good things lastnight, Mcginn looked really good, he was everywhere. I've been saying that the game against the Penguins is the game the Flyers will come to life, i'm sticking with it. |

Because they were just out on a long shift and iced the puck! You've never seen that happen in a game? |

You can retain salary in trades. You can still buy players out in the conventional fashion and have it count against the cap.
Don't try to lecture me about what the team can and can't do.

Speaking of a 4th line player, Berube needs to start using Hall on faceoffs more, cause G, B Schenn and Couts ain't getting it done. Maybe Hall won't be any better, but he likely won't be worse. And who knows, maybe he'll win a few o-zone draws. |

Coburn and Giroux both stood there as spectators on the 2nd goal. |

Giroux, B. Schenn, and Couturier won 30% of their faceoffs last night. Good job, good effort. |

You are limited to how many deals you can retain salary in according to the CBA. If you'd like I'll point out the rules to you. You can't just keep salary of a bunch of players, as well as buy out a bunch of players to overhaul the roster. There is a salary Cap in place. And if you want to look at the numbers, we can do that also. |

When they get pushed, they start thinking outside the box -- they've always pushed and probed when they want to do things.
They were the first to trade for negotiating rights for impending free agents, one of the first to heavily front-load contracts for salary cap relief down the line. They've never shied away from offer sheets.
If they finish close to dead last... That's just not how this franchise operates. They won't take that lying down.

L Schenn: 12:50 of ice time. Raffl had more. Why not play Mesz if L Schenn is barely getting any ice time?

Ouch. No power play time or PK time either. Honestly, it's looking like Dreger's source is right on the money regarding the Flyers skepticism of Luke Schenn.
This also flys in the face of Berube's statement about not playing Schenn alot when they are behind. They spent 58 minutes with a tie or a lead and i think that was the least amount they've played him. |

Schenn was good last year. The first 7 games this year are irrelevant and or a mirage. |

Giroux needs to play better. He looked like a rookie on that 2nd goal, and he seems to lose every offensive zone faceoff, especially if we're on a PowerPlay.

Mesz has a history of injuries, but a bad defender? Not sure I'm sold on that just yet. |

I agree with you, that is how they operate, I just wonder what they could do, it's not like a few players are shining for other teams to make offers on.
Would Couts still have trade value? it's not like they could start moving some older guys & rebuild, ummmmm, no they don't rebuild, forget that |
