I am of the opinion that Fast needs more grooming in the minors. Nobody has to twist my arm on getting rid of Pyatt, he's miserable.
Kristo and Kreider should be given another look; it's up to Vigneault to agree to that though sentiment though. - MidnightMarauder
while i agree that pyatt is absolutely useless offensive, i don't see him as a defensive liability. i trust him out on the ice with a 1 goal lead with a minute left in the 3rd. i'd probably cringe if i saw kreider or kristo in that situation. |

little different though. Nino or his agent had asked to be traded, Nino led the team in points in Bridgeport and wasn't called up for playoffs. A trade had to be done.
The Rangers don't have same situation with Kreider - jimbro83
Exactly, Neiderreiter had nothing to prove, at the minor league level. Kreider still has room for improvement and his continued development needed another stint in the minors.
In the Isles case, they may have undersold, in solely receving a third line grinder for a potential beast of a power forward.
Good trade for now but might be a win for the Wild when all is said and done. Luckily for the Isles, they have youngsters like Strome and Nelson; both of whom look like really good prospects. |

btw i think we're forgetting how big of an impact and how noticeably better this team is with hagelin in the lineup.

The Rangers have plenty of good defnesive forwards on their team; Kreider and Kristo wouldn't be needed for last minute lead protecting.
Stepan, Callahan, Boyle, Moore & Hagelin can all protect the house nicely. |

Not directed towards you, but at the end of the day, Kreider has to win the confidence of the coach. He had every opportunity to win a spot in camp, and despite the fact that he was being talked about as a possible first line left wing early in camp failed to make the team. There is no vast conspiracy to hold Chris Kreider back. The fact of the matter is that two separate coaches, Torts and now AV, for whatever reason not comfortable with him in the regular lineup. Torts was very willing to play young kids, and despite the rap on AV, Fast made the team out of camp, which shows a willingness by AV to give kids a shot.
I guess what I am saying is this -- Kreider has to earn his spot, and it shouldn't be just given to him, because he is the favorite little pet prospect of Rangers fans. |

Not 100% sold on that idea. He has the speed and hands, but doesn't like to block shots. He did ok, but I'd rather have Moore, Boyle, Dorsette, Pyatt out there getting hit with slappers. |

Why are we discussing the overpayment for Zherdev 3.0? |

??? I noticed him BECAUSE he had a big time block in the 3rd. I swear if he was 6'0 and played the EXACT same and was JUST as physical people would be less critical of him. |

That's about all Pyatt is good for. His days as an NHL player are dwindling. |

He is Zherdev because he's Russian?
Why don't we do this, when we list all of the floater Russians over the history of league, why don't we list all of the stars as well. Because right now, you can make an argument that three of the top 5 players in the world are Russian, and between them have won some very significant hardware in the league.

Yea that was a little bit of an ignorant statement. Not all russians are lazy floaters.
Yak has been playing in north america since he was a kid because he's so dedicated to making it in the nhl and plays with unreal passion. |

Exactly my thought. Malkin Dats and Ovi are all crazy good offensive players that also are either real physical or ya know, the best 2way forward in the game. |

Mark my words, in three years, if not sooner, he will be one of the Top 10 players in the league. He is not some shrinking violet. I saw that kid absolutely dominate the OHL, and he is way tougher than he's given credit for. He is not the biggest guy, but he doesn't back down from anyone.
IMO, he will ultimately be the best of all of those young guns currently up in Edmonton.
But, we shall see, because the proof will ultimately be in the pudding one way or the other. |

you know the same people who all game long every game whine about "staying out of the box" are also the same people who every time an incident happens, want to take out retribution and have the players do something that completely contradicts that philosophy. - jimbro83
I was thinking the same thing. I remember he called out Asham on Twitter for defending a teammate with the Rangers up 4 or 5 goals late in a game last year. Scotty said it was stupid to do it in that spot. He's a hypocrite. |

Yakupov's first year in the league is pretty much equivalent to John Tavares' first year in the league. But, you never here people refer to Stamkos and Tavares as enignmatic because they didn't totally dominate the league as 19 years old. |
