Forget the contract, Luongo is a more than capable goalie. Just because he has a bad contract and hasn't lived up to it doesn't mean he can't have a shutout.

Yeah, he's been lit up but so has every good goalie, his have just happened to be on a bigger stage so the whole hockey world saw it happen. Not a lot of guys will ever actually live up to those retirement deals but for 5.3 mil a year thats a pretty nice cap hit for an elite goaltender.

Yeah, once the team fully learns his system it should help him. Torts teams typically block more shots by opposing forwards much more than other teams do, and typically those are higher quality shots than defensemen. But the 2 man foecheck leaves opportunities for plenty of opposing odd man breaks.

To be fair, some guys just, especially young players aren't as energized when playing 4th line minutes with the grinder/tough guys. He should be in the AHL getting tons of minutes IMO.

Meh not really. They play a tighter box in the d zone but I haven't noticed a marked difference in it. People will point to Burrows and Shredder going down but those were on the PK. Gonna happen.

Watching the Rangers struggle makes me wonder if the team was bad and Torts made it look better with a virgin tight system. Because the team sure hasn't done that whole 5 guys in the lane thing in Vancouver.
