Probably not... there is no incentive, now that Garth isn't getting 1000 hits a day on his blog... usually just the same three trolls flaming him. I am on Team Garth... entertaining, and kept the conversation going.

Just signed Homie's petition and got hit up for a $25 "donation" to the site... f that, and take Darcy with you.

One last thing... where the heck is Homer??? Want to know the dirt on Yakupov, Miller, and Vanek.

What a sad state of affairs, when our "star" players are virtually signed to Minnesota already this year. Get these guys outta here!

I was only able to watch the 3rd period last night. But for the first time since his first 30 games in the NHL, Myers looked impressive IMO. And I was really happy with Zadorov play in his first game.

Something has to give in Buffalo
TheFourthPeriod.com

Off to a 1-8-1 start, the Buffalo Sabres are starting to realize just how long of a season this is going to be if they continue to play at their current pace.

The players are frustrated. The coaches are frustrated. Management is frustrated. Ownership wants answers.

Sabres GM Darcy Regier has been fielding calls for goalie Ryan Miller, left wing Thomas Vanek and center Steve Ott, while he's willing to move the likes of right wing Drew Stafford and defenseman Tyler Myers.

Miller, Vanek and Ott are all set to become unrestricted free agent next July, and it has been well documented that Miller and Vanek do not plan on re-signing with the club.

A trade might not be imminent -- as of Saturday night -- but Regier is looking to shake things up and get his team going.

The Sabres aren't likely to fire head coach Ron Rolston, but numerous reports claim Regier is now on the hot seat, especially after fans began chanting "Fire Darcy" during home games.

Regier, who became in the Sabres' GM in 1997, isn't focused on the outside chatter and has set his attention on improving the hockey club.

If the Sabres decide to make a change in upper management, it's not likely to happen until the off-season, or well after the second-half of the season.

I'm gonna hate myself for doing this, but how's this sound?

Vanek and McNabb

for

Heatley, Zucker, and a pick (2nd?)

Vanek apparently wants to sign in Minny anyway, and trading Vanek helps you guys lose even more. Adding a guy like Zucker for the future could help as well and you give up a prospect from an area of strength with the recent influx of quality D prospect (Risto, Pysyk, Zadorov, McCabe, etc).

Heatley would be useless to us. Just an extremely expensive roster spot taken away from a rookie... McNabb may be in Regier's dog house, but I doubt it'll be an issue when he gets fired. Zucker is a good prospect, but I feel we could get better considering how much we got from Minny for Pommer. Vanek may be UFA, but he would obviously re-sign in Minny so that's a non factor. He is a better player than Pominville as well. He should warrant a higher return as a result.

Fair points. My proposal assumes that Minny knows that he'll sign with them in the offseason anyway, but they still want to acquire him early to help push for the playoffs. As such, the Wild are bargaining from a position of power.

Is "tanking" Buffalo's goal this season? If so, trading their best scorer would certainly help achieve that goal. Heatley's salary is merely to balance the cap as they both have comparable contracts. What if the pick were to be changed to a 1st? Would you be tempted enough then?

I like Zucker, but I need more back than he & a 2nd for Vanek. Plus u want McNabb...
Taking Heatley is really just salary dump for u guys. He'd have more value if u traded him to a contender looking for more scoring. He's worthless to us. And there's no guarantee we'd even be able to get something for him bc he's always hurt...

I'd personally want more still...
But if what you're wondering is can Vanek & Zucker be the main pieces involved in a trade, I'd say quite possibly...
The Sabres will get some pretty good offers for Vanek though when they decide to move him, so consider that as well.

Even if it's been made clear that he wants to sign in Minny? I'm not so sure, but rumors ARE just that. How about if they were to offer something like:

Zucker, Bussieres, and a conditional 1st upon resigning (which seems likely)

for

Vanek

It's a similar deal to the one that got them Pommer, so I think it holds aome merit. Bussy is a reasonably solid powerforward prospect who likely tops out as a middling 2nd line winger, but seems more likely to become a bottom-6 energy guy that can play up the line-up every when needed.

Also, I'm not actually a Minny fan, I just like to gauge the market for guys like Vanek!
