I'm gonna hate myself for doing this, but how's this sound?
Vanek and McNabb
for
Heatley, Zucker, and a pick (2nd?)
Vanek apparently wants to sign in Minny anyway, and trading Vanek helps you guys lose even more. Adding a guy like Zucker for the future could help as well and you give up a prospect from an area of strength with the recent influx of quality D prospect (Risto, Pysyk, Zadorov, McCabe, etc). - MaximumBone
Heatly would score 2 goals in his first game here and Darcy would immediately sign him to the 8 year/ 64 million contract they alledgedly offered Vanek |

Not a chance, not nearly enough for Vanek. |

Even if it's been made clear that he wants to sign in Minny? I'm not so sure, but rumors ARE just that. How about if they were to offer something like:
Zucker, Bussieres, and a conditional 1st upon resigning (which seems likely)
for
Vanek
It's a similar deal to the one that got them Pommer, so I think it holds aome merit. Bussy is a reasonably solid powerforward prospect who likely tops out as a middling 2nd line winger, but seems more likely to become a bottom-6 energy guy that can play up the line-up every when needed.
Also, I'm not actually a Minny fan, I just like to gauge the market for guys like Vanek! - MaximumBone

I'm not sure you could get more for Vanek. pending FA who's already set his sights on one particular team. It's kinda like the pens situation with Iginla. Minnesota knows they're in the driver's seat when it comes to Vanek so they could get away with lowballing the Sabres. |

Vanek, assuming no season-ending injury, is going to be "the" premier rental target at the deadline. Somebody who thinks they have a legitimate shot at a cup will give up a decent amount for him, regardless of how true or un-true it is that Vanek has already made up his mind that he's going to Minnesota. Certain GM's throw reason out the window when their sites are set on a cup. Personally, I'd rather have Vanek for 3-4 months and a Cup, than not win the cup and have a Vanek on the wrong side of 30 long-term. Miller, on the other hand, is a different story. |

I got a better trade. Regier and Rolston for Dudley and Lavy.

From the sounds of it, Botterill might be the best candidate out there right now. He's labeled as a cap-genius, but one can only wonder how much of that is masked by the fact that he's got two of the best players in the world on his roster.

Botterill would be a good choice as well. And he has Penguins ties so anything is possible. |

the Neal contract was great for the Pens
also the swift decision on Staal

Personally, I think that if Regier is axed within the next couple of months, it will be either Botterill or Fitzgerald. I know very little about Fitzgerald, but Dudley sounds like more of a sentimental pick than anything else. He's been around for quite a while, yet nobody seems to want to give him a GM job. I like the Botterill idea because of the "young and creative" factor. This team needs to think outside the box to get somewhere close to contention again. |

Vanek to the Wings has made the most sense to me for over a year.
Miller to Ana or SJ.
Ott to Ana, Det, Van, or Bos.
Myers to Edm
Not saying all will happen, just if they're moved this is where I see them going. |

Of all these guys, I see Ott sticking around, just to save PR face if anything else. He's got that mold that everyone around here just loves. |

Miller to Ana or SJ don't make sense. SJ has Niemi, who's been fantastic. Anaheim has Hiller and Fasth. Hiller has been better than Fasth this year, but I don't see them in the Market for a goalie. It makes no sense for us to take a goalie back in a trade because we already have too many anyway. |

I like Ott but if there's an offer for a mid prospect and a 1st IMO he gets moved. |

I doubt the offer for him is that high. And yes, I know the supposed offer that came from Vancouver last year (which I don't believe). It's funny, but for all the leadership that Ott is valued for bringing, both in Dallas and in Buffalo, his teams have been crap for the most part. |

You don't give guys like Vanek away, Iginla is older and teams WILL PAY for Vanek. The only road block will be Darcy. We don't need anymore players that are 3 years away from playing or more picks. |
