Cut back on penalties? Hire the guy with 3150 PIMS. - PLindbergh31
Because he coaches exactly how he played. Hilarious. |

I'd consider him a better playmaker than a "pure finisher", but in the same way that Gretzky was a better playmaker than a finisher. - jmatchett383

Don't think I said that. But when someone who spent a career in the box preaches discipline players are supposed to take it serious? |

Hey guys, sorry if it's been posted, but Paul Stewart's blog has a video of the Bureau/Svoboda hit complete with the Mactavish fight. That was the only time I thought I saw someone die, and I hated Bureau when he was on the Flyers. I also forgot how MacT wouldn't stop, and actually ended up kneeing him. The NHL needs more guys like him. - jmatchett383
I was at that game...I remember the silence fell upon the crowd when Svoboda was laying on the ice...and I half jokingly said above the din, "hes dead", within earshot of most of my section...not exactly tactful, but it just kind of looked like that (though I knew he wasn't dead) and I said it. |

Considering most of his minutes came from fighting majors and most of the current team's penalty minutes come from lazy and stupid obstruction minors, I don't see why the players would find it incongruous. |

I really thought he was. Bleeding from the head, then bleeding out of his mouth. I really thought I was watching a person die. |

The list of NHL enforcers who have gone on to become successful NHL coaches is a country mile long. |

Yes! If a NHL Coach was a former defenseman such as Laviolette was. Are the forwards supposed to take it seriously when he coaches them offensively? |

Are you saying that Berube can't be a good coach because he was an NHL enforcer? |

No they're not. It's a fact that all NHL coaches mold their players to be exactly what they were. That's why Gretzky's no longer a coach in Phoenix, because all of his players didn't buy into his "Be the most gifted player in NHL history" system. |

Nope. I'm saying the Jack Adams is in the bag. |

How is Patrick Roy, who was a goalie, doing it in Colorado? |

So in other words there's no real point, just negativity towards Berube. |

On the other hand, the LA Kings of the early 90's crushed it with Barry Melrose's "Mullet our way to victory" system. |

Coming from the guy who said Dreger was full of crap, and insisted Murray would be the next coach.
Now, Berube is your boy! |

We really should get Brent in to give the Schenns some pointers on how to be the most productive pair of brothers in the NHL. |

Wrong on both counts. Never stated that Dreger was full of crap. And never insisted that Murray would be the next Coach. Get your facts straight.
Berube certainly wasn't my choice. But that being said, I'm going to be objective and positive and give him a chance. |
