Sorry, but outside of career playoff wins Marty beats Roy in every statistical category....but let's just throw away the numbers so you can make your point.
- Crushers68

Patty also began his career in an era which was more conducive to offense than the one that Brodeur enjoyed playing in for a vast majority of his career. During the 1986-1987 season the average number of goals scored per team was 294. 10 years later it was just 239. In 1986-1987 the average number of goals scored per team, and consequently the league average GAA was 3.675. In 1996-1997 that was 2.91. That's a difference of 20%. All bias aside I would take Patrick Roy over Martin Brodeur all day every day.

Who is "forfeit pick?" Never heard of him. Must be good to be 4th overall

I hear forfeit pick has been dominating the Swedish Elite League.

yea wouldn't mind that. maybe a 3rd? i think the red wings would hold out for a 2nd though, and eventually get it.

he has a $1.8 or $1.9 mil cap hit though.

Since their return from the west coast debacle, I got to watch the past few games and have mixed feelings; as any fan would.

Against the Caps, the Rangers played a rather Torts-style of play and earned an impressive shutout win. Now, I know the Caps are not that good, but their PP is still lethal and they were denied on all chances; including an early 5-on-3.

Against the Devils, they looked lost as if trying to mix AV's and Torts systems. I am probably wrong there, but man...they simply had zero direction and rarely touched the puck. I am not , and have NEVER been a fan of completely blowing up all your lines because of injury in order to balance out scoring. With this team, there is virtually no scoring, so what AV is speaking of makes no sense to me. Personally, I like to keep lines together and move a "piece" in to fill spots from penalties, injuries, flu, etc. If I have one or two monster lines, I could care less about the other two not scoring much at all.

I am not sure AV will last if they continue to look like they did against the Devils. Losing is one thing, but looking as horrible as they did against a major rival is not acceptable. There certainly needs to be a few moves to get an identity on this team. I like the Krieder and Mash call-ups. Some nastiness on D is also needed so I would like to see Bickel or McIlrath in the lineup, too. I know these two aren't major improvements (and Stu can be a liability in the D-zone), but they can't be worse than what's there now; plusr sometimes you just need that presence (tough, nastiness) in the game to know that "it's there" if you need it. It can keep some opponents honest before another injury occurs.

I am sorry if some disagree, but I couldn't stand that game against the Devils. I don't mind losing, but the way they played was unacceptable. The blame starts with the coach and his terrible line combos, but he didn't have much to work with to start. Pyatt on the firs tline...are you nuckin' futs!?!

AV has not had the full Ranger team in any game, and therefore he's going to get a pass. Had Nash, Callahan and Hagelin been in the lineup, and Lundqvist not trying to reinvent goalie play, and the team was still in the shape they're in, I would agree his days are numbered. But as constructed right now, they are just a collection of parts, and don't believe Toe Blake could make much of them.

Especially with the condensed Olympics schedule. Somewhere will be 4 games in 5 nights and that's stupid.

Hank not practicing, dealing with a minor issue, we're done, I've never see a team have to deal with so many negative things.

That was the original report. He probably pulled a groin and will be out for weeks. Rangers just seem to have the plague.

With the way things are going this season, if Hank did pull his groin, it was probably from a wonderful deke by Taylor Pyatt during practice.

I love this team but I am okay with them being atrocious this season. If you're not first you're last...

Mine as well bottom out rather than be a bubble team. To be honest though, the way things look thus far, they aren't good enough to be a bubble team.
