Assuming that is a negotiation between the NHL and major juniors and nothing to do with the CBA
so where does Laughton really fit in with the Flyers? They seem to be set at center for the next 5 years with Vinny signed on and the ages of G and Couturier. - nastyflyergirl
They either move Vinny to wing or play Laughton as a 3rd line wing. Or they make a big trade. |

Right now I'd put him on the top line wing and not look back...

I think they should keep him. 67's aren't a good team this year, so it wouldn't be a good situation for him to go back to.
At least with the Flames he can learn a thing or two. |

It's really a catch 22. He's earned the right to stay, he's been their best player, on the other hand burning a year of a players ELC on a team in a full rebuild isn't very prudent. Not sure what the Flames will do. It's a tough decision.
Edit: If it was my choice, I would keep him. Tough sell to the fans if they send him back. Also, I'm a big proponent of rewarding a guy for playing well. |

I know.... but if that (relatively rare) 18-year-old player is still clearly not ready for the AHL, either, then the prudent move for the NHL team is to have him play that fourth season in the CHL and consider him for the AHL at age 19. Case by case basis. - bmeltzer

I agree. It's basically telling the fans who shelled out their money that 1) we're getting rid of our most exciting player and 2) we're giving up on being as competitive as possible this year. |

Couldn't agree more. I mean, I like a good chunk of their library, but a lot of Zep is unlistenably boring. |

No, he needs others to step up to release the triple teams on him. If other guys become more dangerous, it will free up more time and space for Giroux to operate. - bradleyc4
Giroux needs to improve his own game. He has been a perimeter player to this point of the Season. |

My dad probably saw them maybe 150 times in the 70s and very early 80s. Never saw them high once. Stopped listening when they went downhill in the 80s and 90s. |

We need someone willing to go to the net, and just stand there. If Hartz, and Simmonds are the only ones willing to do that, then we need more help. I see too many shots from the outside, and nobody in front of the goalie. You can shoot all you want like that, and run up the shot totals, but as you can see, you don't score a lot.
I also noticed, that once they get into the offensive zone, the guys like to shoot once, and then back off; either going for a line change or into D mode. There is no pressure on the other D.
In our end, we scramble around because nobody knows who to cover. Just stick with a guy, and let the other players adjust their positioning. They have to quit leaving the guy to someone else who is not moving, and trying to figure out their positioning. I really feel for Mason, and Razor right now. Their numbers really don't reflect how they have been playing. |
