The best teams, dont have dinosaurs patrolling the blue line anymore.
Chicago, St. Louis, Detroit, etc. - Just5
Are they the only best teams in the League right now? Lots of teams have been successful with different kinds of lineups. Are you saying that you can't be a good team if you have a defenseman like Grossmann in the lineup? |

You can get by with one on the 3rd pairing. Maybe 2nd pairing like a W. Mitchell or a Mcquaid if their good enough. But not 2 anymore |

Roszival and Brookbank aren't exactly the youngest guys in the league (sharing Chicago's 3rd D pair spot), and Leopold isn't getting much younger out in St. Louis after being oft-injured/healthy scratched the last 4 years. |

I should have clarified....speed and puck moving ability included. Their dinosaurs bc of the antiquated style of play they bring, not their age. |

Good teams have players like that playing top minutes in key situations. One of the reason why some feel that LA didn't go as far last year was the loss of Willie Mitchell. Not exactly a puck moving fleet skater on the back end.
Look, the Flyers definitely need to tweak their mix on defense. Instead of having 3 stay at home defenseman, they should only have 2. And the other 4 need to be mobile puck movers who are hopefully also solid defensively. But stating that player like Grossmann and Schenn are dinosaurs in todays game, simply isn't accurate in my opinion. |

I counted 5 or 6 players that have a higher PPG pace than Laughton in the OHL. I guess he's just a top player right? Not sure if he's too good for the league. |

Anyone know how Sean Monahan is doing for his Junior team. I believe he plays for the Ottawa 67's. - PLindbergh31
Currently with the Flames, still a chance he's sent back. Possible chance the 67's trade him if sent back. |

It doesn't matter to me if there are other players who are scoring at a faster pace. When you look at who he is as a player -- his total game and the point he's gotten to offensively at that level from where he was even early last season -- he belongs in a tougher league right now; namely the AHL.

That article stated exactly what I said. They added Hertl and Kennedy!
Big retool!
The Flyers are changing how they play under Berube versus Laviolette. Are they re-tooling also! - MJL
you only read what you wanted to read...they made an org shift w/o firing their coach, moving slow guys out and letting their kids take the lead and share it w/ war horses thornton and marleau. they also shifted burns to forward as part their strategy.
i was wrong about wilson...thought he was stuck in a certain MO, but he shifted and the results are admirable. would that the flyers have such a shift... |

There are 5 players averaging more than two pts a game including Laughton.
It's not about whether he's too good for the league or just a top player but whether his development would be better served playing in the OHL or the AHL. Bill's opinion, and I think many of us share it, is that his development would be better served making the jump to the AHL. |

I'm not going to get into a semantics argument with you. I don't consider adding a couple of role players and changing a style of play a retooling. Maybe you do, and that's fine. The top players in San Jose are the same as it has been for a number of years. The key players are exactly the same. |

Surprising, since Fasth has been pretty bad this year and Hiller's been relatively good. I'd guess Gibson's the starter of the future, but not quite ready yet. |

The Flyers are prob figuring out right now how to shift Laughton ++ to the Sabres for Vanek to cure their woes. |

Gibson is held in very high esteem there...depends on how desperate MacT is...sounds like they have an itchy trigger though. |

that would be unwise, imo. they are in no position to trade youth for a vet. |
