I have no problem with Harry Z playing over Dustin Jeffrey at all. - Oneonta Penguin
I have more confidence in Jeffrey's ability to hit the net(albeit limited confidence). Harry Z is TK 2.0 with a lower cap hit. |

And more size and more toughness and without the delusions of grandeur. Oh, and without looking like a fruit bat. |

If DJ can't get playing time over the likes of Z, Connor and Engo, I'm getting the feeling his time with the Pens is soon over. |

That's really disappointing to me because he's been fine. There were a couple games he looked downright fantastic. |

Harry Z is 5'11" 180lbs and TK is 5'11" 190 so I dont know where you are getting "more size". I tried to find career hits for both so I could calculate hits/game but couldnt find that stat for either player. My gut says their respective hits/game would be about as close as their size difference, negligible. Basically the difference is cap hit.........and not looking like a fruit bat.
EDIT: Harry Z hits more than I thought. His hits/game is 1.7(small sample size of only 47 NHL games). TK clocks in with .72 hits/game. Gap between them gets wider when you factor in ATOI. TK just about doubles Harry Z's. |

Zolnercziek (spelling?) is a run around and nail you as hard as he can (sometimes illegally) type of guy. Basically a 4th liner/13th forward who can chip in a few points a year. He's not big, but he does like to hit, hard and often.
I watched the game last night, and noticed A LOT of missed shots from Malkin on the PP. Especially in the 3rd, he had 2 one-timers and one shot go wide on the same PP. They needed to get shots to the net and have players crash. The one time they did, they would have had a goal if not for the premature whistle (granted, the ref lost sight of the puck). |

Harry Z is the correct spelling FYI.
I found the stats on hits I was looking for and the #s bear out basically what you said. I put an edit in my post.
As for the missed shots, the missed one timers on the PP dont bother me as much as the blown possession on rushes because of missed shots. Might be nitpicking, but mised shots on the PP typically dont generate odd man rushes the other way. Missed shots on the rush that ring off the glass out of the zone while your team is in the middle of a line change can be game changing. When Harry Z carries in alone while the team is changing, the puck either needs to be on the net or he needs to kill time with it in the corner waiting for support. |

I know its Mark Madden, but hanging it on Sutter with the talent he is playing with is why he is not scoring. He is not getting scored on so as my 3rd line, Im happy until the roster fills out. |

Maatta has had some PP time. He's easy to spot because he hits the net from the blueline. - canadianpenfan
That is the most frustrating part of Letangs game. His complete in ability to make a simple shot hit the net. He can pick corners no problem, but when you need a keen height wrister for a tip or rebound he can't do it.
I remember Letang hitting Jordan Staal in the neck with a shot on the PP. The nets are 4ft, Jordan Staal is 6'4. I cannot think of a reason why Letang needed to shoot the puck a foot above the net. |

In the handful of games in the preseason, he was clearly trying to work on that. Much less of a backswing. |

If he could thread his shots the way he threads his passes we'd be sweet. I would be shocked if he hasn't sorted out his one-timers by now. |

Im a big fan of Jefferey. I think he should be traded. There is no place on this roster for him. I think he can be a serviceable 2nd line center, on a rebuilding team. He is going to be one of the millions of players who was going to be good, but blew out his knee before he could prove it.
So he is going to eventually carve out a 300-500 game career, but all for teams that do not contend, its just a reality of his knee injury. |

Shero is usually pretty good at doing the right thing by the player. The move of 'The Reverend' is a good example, but the Ducks must have had something that Shero wanted.
Jefferey is obviously not getting the return that Shero wants, otherwise I know he would have traded him. I think most of us can see that Jefferey can play at this level, but his portfolio of work is so small who is going to pay what he is worth.
