It will have to be 2 more yrs in Juniors. if he stays next year, there won't be any AHL time because of his age - nastyflyergirl
They're going to fk it up and rush him up... you could already see the conflicted expression on Homer's face when he announced that they were sending him back this time... |

Meh, why send either? but yeah McGinn has been better than Raffl in my opinion. |

there is enough to like in this win to feel some improvements are being made, but the biggest missing for me is the lack of attack around the net. still way too much perimeter play and shots from distance (despite coburn's goal). for a team that's starved for goals, it's not enough. if they played a better team tonight, they probably lose. - hammarby31
Thankfully the schedule is pretty forgiving thru Dec. 1. Butsy's got me believing they're at .500 by then.

Sending McGinn down....?
Guess it's better than having him or Raffl sitting as a scratch. I'd rather either of them play at that point. |

noticed a few times last night getting a bit pissed that the third guy was staying too high in the offensive zone leaving his two linemates without any support in the zone, and then when they lost the battle, said third guy was standing stationary and was completely ineffective in preventing a clean breakout or providing much support for the D.
On the one hand, ok with a more defensive mindset, but would like to see it actually be helpful. Otherwise, get in and help on the forecheck and keep the puck in the zone. |

I'll tell you why. It's because on Page 83 on the "How to Screw Up an Already Screwed up Team" manual, it says that anyone who works hard should not be given the chance to outshine players who decide to 'preserve their stamina' for later in the season and who also are paid 5X as much.
This appears as if the powers that be made some, not so bright decisions when it came to contracts that were handed out.
In the Flyers defense, I think they just tell their players to start "playing" when we are on the cusp of failing to make the playoffs. We all know that Flyers like to make an entrance.
Positives: Read finally is rewarded for his hard work game in and game out. Dude hustles no matter what. I'm pleasantly surprised that Mason is the MVP thus far...hope he continues to outshine the rest of these bums...err rest of the team. |

drive the net!!! yes please.
also, right after you and i briefly discussed mason last night i watched the highlights on nhl.com, the commentator dude (don't know who it was) was railing mason for letting that coburn deflection in. "you HAVE to stop that." guy would have had a shutout but for a fluky deflection and they're still talking poop on him. - -davies-
You saw that to!?! I was like, you're an idiot... Did you even see the shot/deflection? |

Change Maatta to Luke Schenn and Laughton to JvR, and you have the baseline rationale for the JvR/Schenn deal. - Tomahawk
laughton doesn't seem to have anywhere near the potential to be the game-changer that JVR can be...but he should be a consistent, steady eddie 3rd line C. don't really see the parallel given we needed a puck mover... |

and that just shows how bipolar it is to be basing NHL careers on such a short time frame. Maata may be a stud one day or he may very well flat line and be ok or he very well may turn into Myers and become a mess. I am not going to sit here and whine about Maata over Laughton when Laughton hasn't even started his NHL career yet and Maata has a handful of games. Now Marshall over Subban makes me - nastyflyergirl
and maybe ghoulbourne over subban in the future... |

I kinda thought that the reason McGinn wasn't on the top line was because they were trying to give him some chemistry, on his go forward line and Raffle would be sent back when Hartnell got back into the line-up. But apparently I was wrong, they just like Raffl better. |
