Funny. Aren't you the same guy who said that Andrej Meszaros didn't deserve to be scratched?
Yeah. That was you. - AllInForFlyers
As much as I'm trying like hell to refrain from replying to your asinine posts, I'm just hoping you realize that you are so anti-MJL that you become worse than him. MJL, like him or not, is one of the most knowledgable posters on this site, and while we've had our differences, keeps a level head most of the time. You, on the other hand, have been nothing but a wet blanket who will stop at nothing to win an argument no matter what. In closing, you need to shut the (frank) up with all of your calling people out.
Weren't you the guy who assured us there'd be a trade before a coaching change?
Yeah. That was you. |

They won't make Hartnell a healthy scratch.. that would be a bad return on investment.. and this is a business in the end. |

Andrej Meszaros has zero to do with the Yakupov situation. But I understand completely why you want to deflect and change the subject. - MJL
No, it's exactly the same. You weren't cool with Meszaros getting benched, but that was a straight-up coaches decision. You objected to any possible contention that Andrej Meszaros wasn't good enough -- because, in your own words, "Meszaros has gotten better every game."
So no. You don't get to lecture on how Dallas Eakins benching a guy is the coaches decision and the coach is always right, and that sending Tye McGinn down is right because the coach wanted it done.
As was said before about you: "This really has zero relevance to the Flyers, because I have problem with analogies (and stats and facts and links and quotes) if they don't suit my purpose."
That's how this matters.

Then keep right on not replying to me. If I'm anti-MJL, then maybe he should too!

I second the bolded part. I've never seen him get angry or make things personal. But that's because MJL is a robot under that mask, or a Vulcan.

Refs need to step in. This happens with MJL way too often. I won't point fingers who is to blame but I'm sick of seeing this every time I log in here. The majority of us are. Please, no more "slap on the wrists" bans for these guys.
My two cents. |

He's played a handful of NHL games. There's no way that determination can be made with that small of a sample size. - MJL
but you determined he absolutely did enuf to make the team... |

A player can be a game changer on the defensive side of the puck also. I'll take the two way player over the goal scoring Winger. - MJL

MJL said he deserved a chance to make the team. Please find the post where MJL declared that he should be on the team.
Didn't we have this discussion every single day during training camp about what the guy said? |

No it's not. Here's why Meszaros was scratched, and continues to be scratched. The Flyers started the Season with Gustafsson scratched and Meszaros in the lineup. Meszaros showed improvement from where he was in the Pre Season. Of the 6 defenseman in the lineup at the time, Meszaros was not the defenseman that was playing the worst. Luke Schenn was. That is what was meant by Meszaros does not deserve to be scratched. Meszaros has not been scratched to teach him a lesson on how he has to play to be a good player in the NHL, or because he was not making an effort. He's scratched because he's not in the Flyers future, and they want to play Gustafsson. They started with Meszaros in the lineup to show the League that he's healthy in hopes of trading him.
Tye McGinn was sent down because of where they feel he fits best in the lineup, and that spot no longer being available with Hartnell coming back. But you told me that you understood that? But your comment here says otherwise.
Yakupov was scratched do to a reported work ethic issue, and attitude problem. And the Coach is trying to show Yakupov that there are no shortcuts in the NHL, and that he doesn't have any special privileges due to being a first overall pick.
3 different player moves, for 3 different reasons. But you want to lump them all together. I don't have problems with analogies. I have problems with poor analogies that really don't have anything to do with the subject being discussed.

McGinn going down is simply about roles and where a player will play. The Flyers view McGinn as a player that is better on a scoring line. With Hartnell coming back, he takes the spot that McGinn was in. McGinn doesn't deserve to be sent down, but it's about what they feel is better for the team. - MJL
Interesting.
He did look good with G and Jake, but ultimately I wonder if he is a guy who will make it as a top six forward.
He has the size and energy to play a bottom six role.
I didn't read what Berube said.
One thing though, Raffl has impressed me with his play away from the puck.
I think defensively Raffl may be a step ahead of McGinn. |

He absolutely did in my opinion. And you know what the difference is between the two statements. Your's pigeonholed the player and made a finite statement on the player. I simply said he played well enough to make the team coming out of camp, this Season. |

We weren't even arguing -- we were discussing the benefits of offensive vs. defensive hockey, and the next thing I know, everything's my fault because one guy says so?
That's laughable. |

I know the difference between a player that is off to a poor start, versus an actual #6 NHL defenseman.

And that's really why I think at this point they chose Raffl over McGinn. He's a better fit on a checking or 4th line. I wasn't crazy about Raffl on the top line. I think McGinn is a better fit there. But the memory is of McGinn scoring 3 goals. But he play, as expected has dropped off drastically from then. And things can change in a hurry. Raffl could falter, and McGinn could be right back up.

I didn't like it, but I read Craig Berube's explanation and accept that it's his call to make.
I don't like it, though. - AllInForFlyers
Where is the written explanation?
I went to the Flyers site and saw his interview with the local media, he just said McGinn needed to play more consistently. |

Yeah, that was pretty much it -- he just said that McGinn needed to be more consistent, and that's why he was sent down. Simple explanation, and I said that I didn't agree with it -- like many others, today.
For some reason, me saying that meant it needed to be explained to me what REALLY happened. |

Well, he did bring a lot of energy and score goals.
I think I would have kept McGinn if they were not playing VL with G, and Jake on the 2nd line.
He'll be back I would bet, and I love the way he played this time around.
Not certain he has to be a top six player to make it in the NHL show. |
