Hi!
I'm actually the Rangers' mod, but this was on the silly side of ridiculous tonight.

I absolutely think that's Russian bias, right there. If his name was "Tyler Jordan Nugent-Hopkins-Eberle," drafted No. 1 out of Moose Jaw, I'd bet a paycheck that he wouldn't have gotten scratched. - AllInForFlyers
Russian bias is a real problem, but I'm not sure it's the only thing at play here.
A lot of highly-regarded prospects/youngsters are also getting scratched these days from a variety of backgrounds... Dougie Hamilton (look no further for a 'good Canadian kid' who does everything he's told, even gets straight A's in school) is regularly sitting out games... Sven Baertchi is a virtual mirror image of Yakupov in Calgary... Adam Larsson and Jacob Josefsson are routinely sitting out for the Devils... Rundblad and Paajarvi can't crack the lineup in Phoenix and St Louis respectively... Yzerman seemingly has it in for Brett Connolly in Tampa.
None of those guys are Russian, but all have something in common... for better or worse, they're not playing the game the 'right way' yet... and in some cases, they're pigheaded children that have some growing up to do. If Taylor Hall regularly told Eakins to go F himself with his play and his comments, I'd bet he'd find himself in the Shelley Suite, too. |

It was a simple question that had no bearing on his "physical limitations" unless you are saying that being small is a reason to not pay attention to both ends of the ice?
Basically he didn't like to come back and play defense. - Flyers_01
Brier's physical limitations absolutely had something to do with his quality of defensive play. He wasn't adept at physical battles for pucks. And he also did not always make the best effort at times. But the bottom line is that Eakins is trying to make Yakupov a better player. For his benefit and the teams.

Isles beat the Pens in Pittsburgh.. I have my worries about whether or not we can win tomorrow night's game.. - Hextall271
We all should.
The Islanders are going to be a force for some time to come. Flyers fans need to stop thinking about them like the "same old, same old" Islanders. |

Oh, my gosh -- Travis Hamonic played 30:21 in that game, and Andrew MacDonald came in at 27:54 -- WOW. - AllInForFlyers
That's two games worth of ice time for Flyers 6th dman Luke Schenn. |

Point taken -- I'll acknowledge that.
I still think "playing the right way" is simple code for "stifling scoring," and it seems to disproportionately impact Russian/European players, but again, I concede the point of your post.

It's interesting -- I really didn't think his ice time was down in the last game against the Rangers, because it seemed like he was taking a regular shift...but the numbers don't lie.

Jimmy Lodge, Oliver Bjorkstrand and Jordan Subban went to other teams after he was picked by the Flyers.
Instead of a potential second line scorer or second pair offensive defenseman they used a 3rd round pick on Zac Rinaldo, 2.0 - Jsaquella
Well that stuff isn't Ghoul's fault.
I'm hoping he makes it.
Plus they have prospects Ghoul and Ghost

You know, some have said he's terrible, but he is what I expected. Above average puck mover with a good shot, but not great in his own end. If the forwards support, he's solid. He wore the A the last game, so he can't be that much of a scrub LOL. |

That's exactly how I thought he would be for you guys also. He'll have his terrible games, but he'll also have his good games. I wonder if he'll be clapped or booed tonight. I would think clapped |

He's certainly not been the main problem as to why we suck so far. He's also taken over for Timonen as the QB on the top pp unit.. |

3 assists. He's been awful so far.. That being said, I am not ready to say that he's lost all his skill and is now a 15 goal 40 pt 3rd line centre. He is a point a game guy, but on top of him playing poorly, no one else is scoring. |

It's just the first 9 games or so. I'm sure his numbers will go up, but maybe not a point a game. He should be up there though |

I think he can get to a point per game. I think he's pressing, and his hand prob isn't right yet. People in fantasy are trading him a lot, but I think he's still a solid player. He may not make Team Canada anymore which is really making me angry because I think the experience would be great for him.. |
