If they get traffic in front of the net, the d core aka the gang that can't shoot straight will start breaking feet again. - PLindbergh31
~ Dec 1, some serious forensics need to be done on this team. first question might be- how did it get this bad? |

What else are you planning to trade with Simmonds for a number 1 dman? - funmaster18
The only plan I can think of is:
Simmonds, Coburn, middle "prospect" (Akeson-esque, not Laughton/Cousins/the young D). It won't get you a Pietrangelo, but it may get you a Myers or Johnson. |

The defense core sans Coburn look like they are skating in quicksand. |

I'm still not on the "trade for a top scorer" wagon, but if one's available, I'm not opposed to moving Simmonds. Coming back and winning that fight was the best thing he's done all year. He just looks awful. Of all of the disappointments this year, he's my #1. - jmatchett383

they're at such a premium, they'd have to trade G for one and w/ the way he's playing...but in the real world, Buf is the only guy who i think might be on their radar and that's a huge risk in so many ways w/ his issues and the prospect of watching the compensation, like schenn, developing in WPG... - isaiah520
They're not getting a Weber, Pietrangelo, Subban, etc.
They have to find a guy who isn't playing top pairing minutes or perceived as one, but whom the Flyers think can be that guy if given the opportunity. |

Mook had some good moments last nite, but other times he seemed lost and like most others, seemed to be skating in mud. |

That's almost of a sure thing as G constantly progressing to one of the top-3 players in the game. |

Carlson instead of Eminger would've helped years ago. |

I noticed this as well. There was a sequence where a Ranger was wide open in the slot. His shot was blocked/missed and went behind the net. 10 seconds later, he was WIDE OPEN IN THE SLOT AGAIN. Mason made the save and held on, which is awesome and all, but these are just basic defensive coverages. You can't have 3 guys down low at the goal line in your zone.
Of course, we all know that IF Giroux was constantly sprinting towards the goal line, Kesler wouldn't have scored on a fluke empty netter in the Vancouver game. So I guess it's the center's duty to play directly in front of his goalie. - jmatchett383
this is the sequence i was talking about. shocked the puck didn't go in. |

There were rumors that Winnipeg wanted Voracek, Coburn, and a Prospect for Buff and Little. I would switch Voracek for Simmonds and make the Prospect either Atl or Konan, try and keep them away from Cousins and Laughton. |

Can you imagine. Instead of Couts and Laughton we could have had Hamilton and Maata. |

I never thought I would say this, but they miss Briere's example. He may have been on the downside, but he scored greasy goals (when he was scoring) and went to the ugly parts of the ice.
He was the smallest guy out there and was always around the net when he was playing well.
Giroux.......jesus what the hell happened here? Why has the slot become kryptonite to you?
I wanted to reach through the screen last night when he passed up the shot on that 3 on 1. TAKE THE SHOT, even if you have nothing to shoot at, keep it low because you have two other players in good positions for rebounds....
As for Simmonds, please just go to the net and do not try to carry the puck anywhere.

True, but how many teams that NEEDED a RW and had many NHL Defenseman, passed up Giroux to select another defenseman.... |
