No, it happens in real life, easily. Garth Snow just got robbed. Bailey and KO are busts, as for the other guys, we'll see. A new building isn't going to turn the Islanders into every players preferred destination.

Bailey and KO busts? Ok. A new building alone no. JT and promising young players and plenty of Cap room and playing in Brooklyn will sure help. I'm fine with this move and if it does not work out, it not on my head.

So you're fine with the Islanders losing Moulson, Vanek, a 1st and 2nd rounder all for nothing?

That's just a stupid comment I'm sorry. The isles did not take two steps back. Vanek is better than Mouslon. The isles got the better player right now

No, trades like that don't happen... Why would Buffalo trade Vanek for Moulson straight up? They done gain anything, they actually lose the better player. Snow didn't get robbed, he gave up a lot but its only 2 picks (15-20th 1st rd) and a 2nd. Gotta give to get and that's what he did to get the better player.

Moulson wanted to get paid (close to $6m a yr) and said he would test free agency so Garth grew a pair and pulled a trigger and improved the team...

Bailey and KO aren't what we envisioned when drafted but are still solid players that are gonna score at minimum 20 goals each this year. (Maybe 30 if they keep there pace.)

And no Brooklyn wont turn the Isles into everyone's preferred destination but it certainly wont hurt the cause anymore, like the Coliseum did.

Why is it all for nothing? Have any games been played yet? Has Vanek left already? I'm sorry I'm done.

What do you mean by a large market though? The Rangers are but the Islanders aren't an bigger a market than Buffalo.

Vanek has already stated that his preferred destination is Minnesota. That is where he will sign in the offseason.

Why would NYI trade Moulson, a 1st and 2nd for Vanek, an UFA at seasons end....they don't gain anything.

Vanek has publicly stated that he would like to sign in Minnesota in the offseason, not my prediction.

SO?

Things change. If the Isles offer him enough, he'll sign.

I am in Minnesota alot and their owner has stated he didn't the signings of Parisi and Suter were worth it right now. Also, didn't they sign Pomminville to a big contract? Even though Heatley's contract might be up at the end of the year, it's not a given Vanek is going to Minnesota.

What you aren't getting is that the Isles weren't and now aren't going to give Moulson $6m+ a year... Just to much money for someone who cant generate offense himself let alone skate with the puck... If Vanek doesn't resign then the Isles lose a 1st rd pick and a 2nd rd pick a year after... Oh well.

Love Moulson but not worth that much money...

And the Isles have 70+ games of Vanek (+playoffs) to change his mind, if his mind is already made up.

With the package the Islanders just gave up, they probably could have received Miller as well and it would have been a little more fair.

If Vanek doesn't re-up with the Isle's then they can turn around and trade him at the deadline and get those picks back.
The same can be said with the Sabres as Moulson can be gone at the deadline if not signed by then'
It's way to early to say who wins and who loses this trade. Hopefully it works out for both teams

Its Smyth and secondly, the Isles gave up zilch on that deal... Robert Nilsson and Ryan O'Mara I believe... Awesome.

Isles lose a 15-20th overall pick this year if he doesn't resign... God damn, that's a huge loss.

Miller has a no-trade clause... Maybe Snow tried.

They could have traded Moulson for a 1st rounder at the deadline. If they really wanted to improve the team, they could have traded the 1st and 2nd for Vanek while keeping Moulson....this just doesn't seem like that big an improvement, maybe make them win 5 more games....but that's not worth what they gave up.

And when was that? He has never said anything about signing with the Wild. He has a house there and went to college there. Where did he actually say he wanted to go to Minnesota. A link will work just fine

Why would the Isles trade Moulson for a 1st rd pick at the deadline? Would that help them make the playoffs or in the playoffs? Think here... Snow wants the Isles to make the playoffs... He traded a good player for a better player and the better players team got picks because they gave up the better player... that's how trades work.

congrats

you got a very good goal scorer

his is also selfish so do not expect an extension until july first, whoever offers him the most money

the sabres biggest mistake IMO is they played him down low

he needs to be in the slot

he refuses to kill penalties or switch to RW

he will produce goals in the playoffs, but do not expect an insane amount

very descent in shoot outs

my two cents

I would personally rather have Moulson than Vanek straight up.
- MapleLeafsFTW

Being a leafs fan, I would expect that brilliant comment
