Here is something to think about, this is JT's team so how do you think he will feel if NY were to resign Vanek who will command more then what JT is being paid (6 mil)...this has no bearing this year but what about the following years if Vanek is signed?

this is something that is discussed often and has some weight to it. JT took a home town discount with his last contract it's no mystery. He knows he's getting a big pay day coming up. This guy wants to win probably more than any player I've seen. He doesn't even have to say it you can just see it. He isn't going to let his ego/money get in the way of winning. His big raise is just around the corner.

Moulson could have been shopped for a 1st rounder if their plan was to not resign him at the end of the year. Instead the Islanders will lose out on Vanek, Moulson, and a 1st rounder along with a 2nd. Empty handed with nothing to show for, just like the Smith trade. Excellent.

Yeah we made the playoffs and Smyth was a huge part of it. Those prospects the oilers got turned into superstars. Horrible trade.
