I don't think they do the deal even last year. Emery isn't the solution for them in net and Mez has been hurt for quite a while now.
If the Flyers ask about Hemsky, the Oilers will probably ask for Coburn or Simmonds. - PhillySportsGuy
I thought at one point they just wanted to get rid of him for whatever but no one wanted him ? |

Couts vs Getzlaf should be a great match up to watch,
I am really looking forward to the game tonight. - Marc D
Stopping that top line is going to be key. I wouldn't be surprised if Berube moves Simmonds off the third line for some defensive zone shifts and puts Talbot there. Maybe move Simmer to top line for a little and Raffl to 4th line. |

I wonder if anyone else noticed this in the Islanders game. But I saw the Schenn/Streit pairing out there quite a bit against the Taveras line. |

Luke and Streit had a very solid game.

I don't think Edmonton ever wants to just get rid of a player. They always seem to want absurd amounts for them. |

They wanted to move him but the price was too high for anyone. They weren't just looking to dump him. |

I still can't believe Raffl is one the first line with Giroux. It's like when they played Mike Maneluk with Lindros. It makes zero sense. |

Hemsky is a UFA with quite a hefty contract for his production. Unless something else is coming back, no way you give up Coburn or Simmonds.
I would think about Hemsky and Nurse for Coburn and a pick though. |

I'm not saying I would do the deal. I'm letting you know what they'd want back for Hemsky.
You're trade proposals are very one-sided. Nurse is a top prospect with loads of potential. Why would they trade him and a top 6 forward for Coburn and a pick? |

Trade proposals should be at least close to being realistic. And both sides would have to agree. |

Still, the upside is the other line of Hartnell with Jake and Schenn looked dynamite. |

To me its about finding the right combination, not just putting the best 3 players on the top line, with a cherry on top.
I have a feeling Berube likes how the team is starting to play, and feels that if he puts Hartnell or Voracek back with Giroux, then they might go back to those low percentage passes. |

Less than zero sense. Using a player who may not even be an NHL caliber guy on the top line is beyond dumb.

Vinny also had a hat trick, so there's that too.
I'm willing to sacrifice a little from the top line in order to make the forwards more balanced. I've always felt the key success in the current NHL is line balance.
I expect Hartnell to be on the 1st line once he gets going. |

Hartnell will likely move there.
To me the big question is where will Voraccek end up?
I think splitting him and Giroux gives them two dangerous scoring lines (OK not so much this season, but you know what I mean).
Also G and Jake are their best two possession forwards that can carry the puck and drive the play towards offense. Splitting them makes a ton of sense, both are better set up guys then pure finishers. If Vinnie can stick at wing the lines will work better. VL might be the shooter Giroux needs on his wing. |

I made this exact same statement at the beginning of the year. I've wanted Vinny on G's wing and Voracek on the 2nd line with Schenn. Last season Schenn and Voracek showed good chemistry early on. It was Schenn's best stretch as a pro IMO.
I feel G and Vorcaek are very similar players. They both enjoy passing and setting up more than shooting. How many times have we seen Voracek and Giroux over pass to each other? Vinny and Schenn will always be ready, willing and able shooters for those guys. |

You like to have balance for sure. But I would like Giroux to have two capable finishers on his wing. Lecavalier certainly fits the bill.
Don't forget, the way the 4th line is currently constructed you are getting very little in the way of ice time, let alone offense.
The 4th line should be Talbot/Hall/Raffl or McGinn. |

I think Raffl has shown to be an NHL caliber player. Even if he doesn't score, he's at least a decent complimentary player who plays good two-way hockey. The NHL is littered with third line players like that. |

this would be my preference
McGinn could play with G and Vinnie,
or have G center Harts and Vinnie and McGinn plays with Jake and Schenn |

I think Hartnell would be a fine addition to the top line when he's playing well.
I would like another 4th line player who could contribute more ice time. Hall is very slow while Rosehill and Rinaldo aren't always the most reliable. |
