you do realize grabovski is 35th overall in the faceoff dot with a win percentage 52.7%
bozak: 65th with a whopping 46.2%
before you go rambling on about how bozak is better in every other facet of the game you might want to go actually check your facts. - Dozzer
bozak > grabo
grabo > crosby
this must mean that bozak > crosby

this mite have already been said, but didnt they include the relationship between Kessel and Bozak when management made their decision to let Grabo go? didnt they purposely resign Bozak to increase their chances of Kessel resigning? - 10baci
ya and I mentioned that.
+'s for keeping bozak over Grabo were:
1) friends with Kessel
2) lower cap hit
3) better at faceoffs
in that order |

Last few years? Ok.
Bozak:
10/11 82 games, 32 pts, -29
11/12 73 games, 47 pts, -7
12/13 46 games, 28 pts, -1
Grabo:
10/11 81 games, 59 pts, +14 (also shut down line)
11/12 74 games, 51 pts, even (shut down)
12/13 48 games, 16 pts, -10 (RC's doghouse, playing with Orr, Brown a lot) - peddy-93
i was talking faceoffs. Again, im not debating that offensively grabo is better. But on a pour defensive team stacked with offense, bozak fits better here. If it were florida, i'd take grabo. |

you suck at this. you go off about how bozak is out playing grabo and then when the facts suggest otherwise you refer to years past to make your point
here's a little hint
last year or the year before do not matter anymore. grabo is also being coached by one of the greatest centres to play the game.. and surprise surprise he is doing well
fact is.. bozak doesnt hold a twig to grabo when it comes to hockey skill.. he just does what he's told better.. and carlyle is a my way or the highway coach.
that selection was made based on who was more obedient. - Dozzer
Or one is considered a better teammate. Maybe one is better in the dressing room. Maybe one is considered a better two-way player and is more trusted. Maybe one is better for team chemistry.
I'm just sayin' |

kinda weird he has 5 PP points then eh?
He's on their 2nd PP. - Big_Lightnin
grabo has bounced between 2nd and 3rd line C - but with PP time.
he had 3 PP points in the first game if i recall. |

Is he really that far off? Looking at their offensive number over the past few years, and they are nearly mirror copies of each other. I don't get to watch Weber, and I know 1 game does not make a career, but in the game vs the Leafs he was on the ice for 3 of the 4 goals the Leafs scored, and he looked pretty darn ordinary to me. Definitely was not doing anything that put him miles ahead of Dion. - vermie22
2012/2013
5 on 5
--------------------Phaneuf/Weber
TOI/60: ----------17.90/19.40
Crsi Rel: ----------(-7.3)/(-2.1)
Pens Taken/60:--0.8/0.3)
PP
--------------------Phaneuf/Weber
TOI/60: ----------3.15/3.57
Crsi Rel: ----------14.8/16
PK
--------------------Phaneuf/Weber
TOI/60: ----------3.04/1.88
Crsi Rel: ----------(-13.0)/17.2
What this means is that Phaneuf plays 24.09/60 minutes while Weber plays 25.85/60 minutes (like everyone says, he plays a lot)
It also shows that the corsi's are in favour of Weber for every category
5on5: 5.2 difference
PK- 30.2 difference
PP- 1.2 difference
It again argues my point that even though he plays the tough minutes, he is not in the league of others that he wishes to be paid like, who play those minutes.

Unlikely....How is Dion gonna score 3 when you're gonna be shutout by the mighty Bachman! - Iggysbff
outside of 2010 when he played 55 games in the AHL, why hasnt he been around so much since? injuries? I know this is his 1st year with the Oil, but even in the AHL last year he only played 6 games? |

i like debating, i really do. But the problem with dion/bozak haters is they never have a counter solution. What should we have done?
funny, this was in the paper the other day:
. By-passing the man in the middle: It's interesting that Kessel's chemistry these days seems to be more with left winger James van Riemsdyk on Toronto's No. 1 line, rather than centre Tyler Bozak. Bozak, armed with a new five-year contract, is going along so far this season at a point-every-other-game clip. Some might say that makes him overpaid, but a quick look around the other league at what similar centres make suggests that's not really the case. He may never be the protypical No. 1 centre, but he does hold value as a good faceoff man - Toronto's best - and a dangerous penalty killer. Sometimes we spend a lot of time focussing on what players aren't rather than what they are. What Bozak is, clearly, is a good NHL player who has turned out to be one of the better players ever signed by any team as an NCAA free agent. - clark_griswold
I've defended Dion this whole thread.
And Bozak is what he is, would I mind him being on our 3rd line making a lot less? No. Do I mind him being on the 1st line making 4.2? Yep.
He's a good PKer and usually good at FO. That doesn't warrant you 4.2 mil.
Anything he can do, Bolland can, and Bolland does most things better. |

But that's where I disagree with you. Prior to last year, Grabo was matched up to shut down other teams best lines. he also managed to score 50+ pts .
He did both, something Bozak would be incapable of. |

So its not RC fault? We weren't misusing him? Where are all these Grabo defenders?
Oates is such a defense first guy, that must explain him on the 3rd line, he just doesn't fit the Washington way.... - Bigzby
Oates doesn't employ his lines the same way Carlyle does. not nearly as regimented with offensive vs defensive starts.

bozak is more coachable than grabo
that i can believe.
not a good reason to choose one over the other.
seems like wilson didnt have an issue with him, nor does oates.. and the reason he was canned in anaheim is because the players tuned him out. my way or the highway only goes so far |

cause he was matched head to head in both zones.
Carlyle matched in d-zone but gave him very few offensive starts |
