Yeah I agree ... Pretty much most stats have flaws in them .... +/- .... Second assists .... If your on a line with weak players and you don't get many d zone starts and your linemates cough up the puck and end up with a d zone finish then corsi says your poop...

See but there are many on the other side who don't think its as big a deal, but regardless the cap will force the hand anyway, not sure paying a 2-3 on a cup team world class money makes any sense.

"Many" does not mean right. "Many" ignorant people out there that really don't have a clue what it really takes to be a competative hockey team.
Phanuef, for all his warts, is one of 2 or 3 pillars on this team which would be devasted to lose him. I don't really think you grasp how important Phaneufs minutes are to the Leafs.

As far as 2-3 on a cup contending team - that's just a pile of crap. A couple teams out there that are lucky enough to have incredible 1-2's, like Blackhawks, but Ph9 is a top pairing on most cup "contending" teams.

Stats tell a portion but not all - especially in hockey, the state of the LEafs in the standings and all the corsi and giveaway talk illustrate that. I don't wanna pay a guy who played as mediocre as he did against a high end Boston club world money, that simple. I have no desire to run with Dion for 7 more years and not win a cup and if that means taking a small step back to take a larger step forward in the long run I'm totally okay with that. Dion is not leading anyone to a championship, if you don't agree with that then we are at an impasse. It's not hating, it's just cap and gain.

There are just so many things wrong with corsi, it's just not worthwhile. If you don't shoot the puck you didn't possess the puck?? Really?? All shots are equal? Really? It's flawed at it's core.

People misunderstood the post. I was being sarcastic, making fun of all the guys going on about how great he was because of his preseason.
