Know whats even dumber? Apparently Feaster decided not to make the Seguin trade because he thought he could sign Bozak and that was just as good.

Yeah, and for a young gun team, keep it simple, collapse, use your speed to transition out. But they're lacking a top pairing and then some; hard to execute anything with their D core.

I hope Eakins get a fair shake at it though. He's a smart guy, he'll adapt if the players can't.

The D isn't that bad. Its got 4 legitimate top 4 defenceman. Ference, Smid and Petry are all steady defensively. Schultz is bad to put it lightly. But that should be well enough to do good enough. A bottom pairing of Belov-Schultz-Grebeshkov isn't a bad make up either.

They're just never in position. Like they never have a forward in the open ice. Defensively once a team links 3 passes with motion they're running around like crazy.

I sort of feel that Eakins is like a college football coach who goes pro and thinks he's smarter than the rest of the coaches. Or at least thats the vibe I've gotten from what I've absorbed from the media. "His defensive system will be unlike anything teams have seen! They won't know how to attack!" Like Chip Kelly's offence.

I don't really remember as it was a while ago but there was a bunch of reports that he pulled the plug on the deal himself because he figured he could get Bozak as his young centerman of the future.

Toronto has gotten tons of chances in the 2nd so far. I could see Kessel potting another one with the way the Oilers are playing defense and their lack of physical play overall. Leafs have limited the chances somewhat in the 2nd, but need to do an even better job in the 3rd.
