I was going to ask: how many of the goals were actually Bachman's fault? - nayefj
Zero, because Kessel/van Riemsdyk/Kadri were unstoppable.

Bob Stauffer on Todd Nelson;
Oklahoma City Barons head coach Todd Nelson was rarely mentioned by the national media as a head coaching candidate, but in a lot of ways his track record matches up very well to that of Eakins. In three seasons behind the bench in Oklahoma, Nelson has guided the team to a playoff berth each and every season, and in the last two years has taken them to the Conference Finals (they lost a tough seven-game series to Grand Rapids this year). Overall, under Nelson’s watch the Barons have gone 125-76-31, and out-scored the opposition 700-638.
Nelson’s work in Oklahoma is particularly impressive when compared to the Oilers’ previous minor league team. The Springfield Falcons spent three seasons as Edmonton’s farm club, never making the playoffs and going through three different head coaches (Kelly Buchberger, Jeff Truitt and Rob Daum) in the process. While the roster makeup of those clubs was significantly different, Nelson has had success in a role that hasn’t been kind to coaches.
Nelson’s candor – he says he was “very disappointed” and “somewhat shocked and somewhat hurt” – was refreshing, and it’s easy to see where he’s coming from. In terms of wins and losses, there really isn’t anything else the Oilers could have asked for out of him. Nelson’s also had success at nearly every level he’s coached – as a head coach in the UHL in the early 2000’s he won two championships and then earned another one as an assistant coach with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves. Only a stint in Atlanta stands out as the exception, and nobody earned a winning record with the Thrashers. Compared to Dallas Eakins – who missed the playoffs in his first two years as coach of the Marlies, and also during his time as an assistant in Toronto – there’s no reason not to prefer the in-house candidate. |

Lowe's got a job for life unfortunately and Katz loves his 80s Oilers buddies. Lowe still around, MacT gone then comes back, Smith and Buchberger lasting through THREE (frank)ing head coaches. - Jack-artist

Its a common saying in Edmonton but time and patience is needed. Theres been too many coachs in the recent years and the team is just scrammbled and plays like a different team every night. Each game is a mystery. Once they settle in to Eakins system the team will play more consistant as they gel as a team and know where each other is on the ice. All the kids are still maturing as well and improving as the days go by so. Its all a matter of when this group comes together collectively as a team.
Thats not to say we still cant improve in other areas as well. Bishop and Bernier were two guys we missed out on. Maybe if MacT were at the helm at that time we could have snatched on of them but thats all talk of the past and when we all believed Dubnyk could be our starter. Its over 10 games in now and I dont see him taking us to the finals, let alone playoffs. Some may disagree. But if MacT wants to maje a "bold" move, Hiller, Halak and Elliot would be #1 in my books to go after. |

I actually didn't mind yak tonight. He's got to play feisty if he wants to stay here.
Seriously though mac t should start calling teams about the first rounde, marincin to start a deal tomake the team better now. Only if he has to then move a young kid. |

Btw 3-10-2 after saturday game,so it's done,but honestly I think it will be bad idea to make trades right now,is not going to help this season,I think we just need to wait till the team is full healthy and see how it goes from there,but if the Oil do make some trades I think they should trade prospects and picks maybe but no yak/eberle/hall/rhn etc. |

yup but I think Nurse will help with that and maybe even Klefbomb,I think the Oil just need to get healthy and let it ride with what they have,is to late now for trades,I want to see what Eakins manage to do in a full season. |

yes but still better record in October but probably had a healthy team to start,anyway I will say this season is done(no Playoff)but I want to see what eakins can do as a coach with a full season with a healthy team and see how this season finish for the Oil in the standings. |

They are unproven and raw. They need a legitimate number one dman to take the pressure off them. Go after abig byfuglien type. Start with the 1st rounder nschultz and see what else they need to add maybe klefbom or marincin.
Then in the offseason go after downie and let hemmer go. The compete level needs to go up. Maybe try to bring ott in |
