Yeah I wasn't really a fan of getting rid of Krueger. Frankly, if your team has been similar over the past couple of years and you've had the same GM, the same sort of leadership group and already gone through 4 coaches, it's probably not the coaches' fault. For several years, it was purely an issue of talent.

MacT's allowed to come in and clean house, but I sincerely hope they give Eakins a good 3 year ride or so to give people a chance to buy in.

I really, really don't understand why they got rid of Krueger, didn't even give him a chance in a full (frank)ing season... I mean we had one of the best power plays in the league when Krueger was running it as an assistant as well has head coach, and one of the best PK's in the league last year as well... Why in the actual (frank) would they just keep cycling these (frank)ing coaches..... (frank) ME

A couple of thoughts for the Oil.

1. You, as fans, all bought into the rebuild through the draft strategy. As the team toils at the bottom, free agents will be wary of signing there, meaning it will be hard to plug holes in the offseason, which will lead to more drafting.

2. With no real leadership, or experience, the young guns have simply kept playing the run and gun style of junior hockey in the NHL. As it is obvious to fans, that makes for some exciting offense, but will normally lead to many odd man rushes against, and poor defensive zone coverage (ask Leaf fans about the Ron Wilson days)

3. Your management team is "selling" you this team as being good. RNH should have been brough in as a third or at most, second line centre to start and learn the NHL game. Justin Schultz is not a top pairing D (right now), Dubnyk is not a starting goalie, Hemsky shouldn't be above the third line, and it goes on. People are playing positions because there is no one else to play them (see: Leafs with Bozak as 1C)

4. To truly improve this team, you need a lot of work. Most notably, size and defensive structure. A big trade that I think would be possible would be with Philly. Use Yaks to get either B. Schenn or Couturier plus a Dman out of Philly.

Translated as not playing as hard in their own zone as when they have the puck. The wrong mix of vets has been a plague on this team for years. It's not coaching...it is the GM . Mac needs to waive Smyth and get 1 or 2 defensive minded vets to teach the kids how to play the game hard in all zones.

I think we should've given Kreuger this season with having Eakins as Associate head coach. Gives a year to balance things out.
