The trade is more surprising to me than anything - funmaster18
There is no doubt.. but I dont think losing Talbot is all that costly. I like the guy. he played with a ton of heart, and earned the right to wear O&B, but Im not gonna sit here and act like the deal is gonna crash and burn the flyers. |

I'm kind of bummed. I really, really liked talbot and his contract was really nice. We have been down the downie road before. |

This was exactly what I meant two nights ago. Homer should not be allowed to control the team anymore. More reason to continue to lose interest in this team. - Flyers1218
Here is the thing I never understand.... Why dont we wait a few weeks.. months.. before saying this stuff.
What if Downie puts up 60 points on G's line? Is it still a reason to lose interest? |

What do you mean? This is a Craig Berube trade lol. I don't think Homer has ever really controlled the team. He either did what Snyder or what Lavi wanted. This is the year to see if Homer keeps his job or not. |

Agreed. It tells me they are ready for some players to make the jump next year. Let's see if downie provides a spark up front. If I'm a younger top 9 player, I'm worried I could be expendable and I'm going to play my ass off. The flyers keep getting younger up front. Wouldn't be surprised if they're posturing to make another move. |

Alright, I'll dial it back. I hope Downie goes off and puts up 60 points. But much like the Richards deal, even though I'm pulling for Schenn and Simmonds, I'm not gonna like it. |

Also, the only place Downie makes sense to me is one the top line. |

Don't disagree with that. But also don't agree that on paper it's a slam dunk for the Flyers. Have to let it play out and see what happens. |

Thats a reasonable post. In all seriousness... I get that you dont like the trade.. I dont like Downie the person, and think Talbot is a hell of a guy to have in the locker. But, I think Downie gives you more ability in the top 9, and that a guy like Holmstrom or maybe even Raffl and step in and do what Talbot was doing.
I hope both players do well in their respective positions. |

Ive watched every game this season, and have been to 3 games. I pay quite a bit of attention to the NHL and Im saying we lose a step in speed with this trade. Downie adds nothing more than grit. He is the same player we traded all those years ago for the most part. So why dont you get a clue - GOA88

Absolutely agree 100%.
I am super tempered when it comes to moves. I think we need to wait a few months before we can say it was a smart move or not..
Up front, I think they will benefit from it.. Thats my hope at least.. but who knows. |

If you actually read all of my posts instead of trying to chump me on here, you'd read that, yes, I do watch him every chance I get.
Edit: no ban. - jmatchett383
Not trying to chump on you but dear God, it's clear you haven't seen that his game has progressed and he is he's not as much a hot head as before.
I liked Talbot, but I don't understand the love from you as the team clearly needs a change and some goal scoring.
Edit; No ban? WTF? |
