You did but he agrees with me. I was really happy. We snuggled a bit then he got all manly and stormed off. |

http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/why-did-the-avalanche-add-talbot-for-downie/
look at this article.
downie is a (frank)ing joke - feelingkettle
From what I am reading on opinion pieces, they say the Flyers won this trade hands down. I have the utmost respect for Talbot, but I see Downie as a superior talent who is starting to come into his own. I actually expect the Flyers to re sign him.. and that will be a good move in my books. |

Talbot was a cancer in the locker-room. Ever since Crosby said he doesnt like him.... He just hasnt been the same. |

I don't think Talbot has been anything more than "solid" in any aspect of his game this season.
The Flyers, offensively, have not been doing the dirty work to get the garbage goals they need. Steve Downie will bring that. Hopefully, it's infectious. - bradleyc4

Haha noo. If anything, what I could see is that Downie did something or the Avs don't think they can re sign him. |

I want him to earn it, first, but if he does and he wants to stay, I will never turn down a productive hockey player for the Flyers.
He's had success playing with young centers. I have no idea who he will play with, but my gosh, if he can somehow get something going with Schenn or Couturier and help those guys start producing at the level we need...man, I'll buy a Steve Downie jersey tomorrow if he can help those two produce at the level at which we wish they would.

TBH, I am shocked that it wasn't Talbot and something else for Downie. Despite the value some people have assigned to Talbot. |

I'm shocked the Avs were shopping Downie for a PKer and not a goalie to be quite honest.
When I saw we got Downie back I for sure thought it was going to be for Emery. |

Yeah, that is what I think the org is hoping for. When I watched him in Tampa, I was very impressed with his game.. gritty scoring but not going off the rails. I thought to my self, I really hope we don't live to regret trading him for Carle. I want him to earn it as well, but if he bring what I have seen in Tampa and Colorado here, and ignites this stagnant attack, sign me up. |

True, and we don't need more of that...and I love Scott Hartnell.
But boy. That contract...man, if somebody gives you a Get Out of Jail Free on that one, with the way he's been playing...I don't want to just move him, but man. Hartnell's play is the reason that you think about it, because I actually like the guys as a player.

We'll find out, starting tomorrow -- of course, watch us get strafed for six on the PP, Downie get a 5, 10 and game misconduct, as well as a match penalty leading to a suspension. That just might break the internet.

Well it sure sounds like he wont be on the ice anytime soon and I don't know know how Giguere is going to hold up as the no.1. |

don't know if i'm ready to downgrade in order to dump contracts yet. i think harts def has a bad contract, but he'd be more likely to spearhead a turnaround than hemsky, who'd be inviting G for cocktails away from the crease. |

You can't argue with what Giguere is bringing to that team also. |

Still cant get beyond this.
An idiot player the organization dealt away because he took stupid penalty, after stupid penalty, and wasnt all to great in his own end.
Dealt for a guy that I will admit hasnt played nearly as well after arriving in Philly. Although a player who is good on the PK and a solid 4th liner.
Why the (frank) make such a deal, when you will ALSO have to give downie a raise on the 2.65 million/year deal he has now, along with being injury prone to boot.
The problems with this team start at the top, with dumbass moves like this that they hope will ignite some magic switch in this team, and lead them to the playoffs. - flyer_nutter
Why do they have to give Downie a raise? They don't have to give him anything. I can understand not liking the deal, but calling it dumbass,is very shortsighted.
