The Flyers have been rumored to be in hot talks with the Avs since well before Varlamov's arrest. |

Mez for Upshall?
Homer will have to throw in a 2nd rounder too.
(I'm not serious) |

Yes, newer posters may not be aware of the 2nd rounder issue, so your disclaimer is probably necessary lest you be attacked. |

True, but the seasons when he broke 50+ games, he was still a productive player. Go even farther back and he was a junior phenom and a solid AHL scorer.
Kid's got skill and does a lot of the 'little things' in the o-zone that this team sorely lacks... he's a complimentary offensive piece... nothing less, nothing more.
Much like Talbot was a complimentary defensive piece... even though some people seem to have convinced themselves that he was Ian Laperriere and Chris Pronger's love child prodigy, not a guy the Pens thought wasn't worth more then $1M/year. - Tomahawk
Truth. This seems like a good place to put this whole thing to bed, yes?
New topic: Scott Hartnell's cut off his hair. A contribution is still a contribution, folks. |

2011 19 goals and PK and intangibles were easily worth the 1.75/yr... since then not so much |

Nobody has stated any of that. Only that player for player, it's a good trade. - MJL
For some, on paper
We'll all just have to wait and see what happens before the real analysis can be made. |

JVR blowing up while Schenn regresses. Tough pill to swallow.
There isn't one Flyers fan on the face of the Earth that wouldn't hit the do over button on that trade. |

Don't get me wrong, I am, too, and said as much in my initial post the other day.
But as it stands, I'm not a fan. I'm glad he had some success elsewhere and it would be nice if it happens here, too, but still, right now, I am not a fan. |

Whoa what?! sorry bo... But that one threw me for a loop... Don't see the connection with what's being discussed ... And for the record it's almost never the victim's fault... That line of thinking is preposterous . |

Other than the Dean McAmmond thing, has Downie done anything else atrocious in the NHL? He slashed a linesman or something in the AHL maybe while he was with Norfolk? I'm not trying to force my viewpoint down anyone's throat... I just don't recall lots of incidents which would make some dislike a player so much, but I may have forgotten other things. |

Honestly, I don't see why this trade is THIS much of a big deal and that is coming from a huge Talbot fan. you would think the FLyers just moved Voracek for Downie. - nastyflyergirl
I think it's frustration over our poop start honestly. I know I thought we'd be better than this and am frustrated as well.. |

Because the flyers moved a piece that was helping them, albeit quietly, for a pice that I quite frankly will shoot them in the foot on a regular basis. - JoeRussomanno
I disagree a lot with that but that's ok. everyone is going to have their own opinion. |

You'd be surprised.
Personally I'd hit it with a tank. Plus I wouldn't have done it to begin with. One of the few moves I wasn't at least slightly on board with. |

The Dean McAmmond hit was the worst suspension ever. Totalllly overkill 100%.
