Im talking top pairing shutdown d-men like you said. How many are there... who are they.

In order to be a top pairing guy in todays game, you need to have a dynamic make up... Its just the evolution of the game.

Pre-lockout.. Schenn would absolutely fit the bill as a prospective top pair shutdown guy. But those days are lonngg gone.

This is true. The days of Daneyko, Foote and Hatcher are over... rule-changes took the stay-at-home defender's ability to dominate in their own zone away from them.

I disagree. Those players would still be playing top minutes in key defensive situations in today's NHL.

Hockey central at noon guys talked about the trade.. They really thought it was a trade that was made by Colorado signalling they are looking to go deep into the playoffs or expediting their rebuild plan and need some vets... didn't talk a lot about what the Flyers were getting in Downie. My impression is that they think it will be good for both teams.

On TSN they said that they like the deal for Colorado and that Downie seems to have a shelf life on teams.

ok geek heads, help me out here. what is the difference between a Roku 1, 2 and 3? What does the 3 provide that the 1 doesn't, etc? I have a google box upstairs and love it but that cost 199 and it doesn't work with hockeystreams. I want to get a Roku downstairs figuring it will work with hockeystreams but also netflix, etc. Anyone know this stuff?

I traded Giroux and B.Schenn for Bogosian, Buff, and Kane in NHL14. Doubt I'd do it in real life but buff skates awesome in the game. Fun dman to play.

Not a fan. He's a poor man's poor man's Mike Green. Developed awful tendencies in college and never corrected them.

All those guys have excellent mobility.

I'm assuming he was talking about the old-fashioned stay-at-home guys, the ones who couldn't move well, but would destroy guys in the corners and in front of the net... back when you could do those things. The kind of guy that Schenn was drafted to be.

They already have 7 NHL defensemen (8 if you count Gill). Unless they make a trade or think Ellerby could be part of the long-term solution, I'd rather the young guys get the playing time in the AHL.

The nice thing about the 3 is that it's got a USB port, so you can watch media from a thumb drive (downloaded movies, photos, etc).

It looks like any of the three should suit your purposes. The upgrade to 2 gets you a bit more robust wifi and a headphone jack on the remote, and the upgrade to 3 adds motion controls, MicroSD and USB slots, and a faster processor.

So the 1 or 2 gets netflix too then. thats cool about downloading stuff. it always annoyed me that the comcast box has a USB port but its not activated
