If Embiid was healthy, I think Hinkie would have done a lot to more get Russell. As it stands, it didn't really make sense to part with significant assets.

I'm assuming he was talking about getting Winslow.

Apparently Boston offered both first rounders they had (16 & 21 I think) + a player like Olynyk for the 9th pick and were turned down.

It's hard to trade up in the NBA because the drop off after the 5th then 10th pick is pretty steep.
