One thing I try and keep in mind when trying to figure out what the Sixers will do is the background of Brett Brown. He has extensive coaching experience internationally and of course 11 years with Pop.

I really would be surprised if MCW would be traded to get another pick in the top 10.

Here's my Hinkie special for draft night:

-Starts off slow Sixers stay at 3 take Wiggins, Exum, or Embiid
-Sixers trade 10 and some scrub to Lakers for #7 and Nash-select Embiid, Saric, or Smart
-Sixers acquire #16 and Carlos Boozer from Chicago for a future lottery protected 1st rounder in 2018
-After they select #16, Sixers trade that player along with Thad Young to the Kings for whomever they selected at #8.
-of course, Boozer and Nash never play for the Sixers.

As you can see, I can definitely think of possibilities to get three top 10 picks without trading MCW. I could see Hinkie also doing business with Charlotte as another possible avenue to get that third first rounder if he can't do business with the Kings.

The Smart selection is the least likely unless Hinkie is following his draft board and picking BPA. They really don't want to make the playoffs next year, so just keep accumulating assets which you might need in the future to acquire a superstar. Personally, I like Embiid, Sarich, more then Smart with their 2nd first round selection.

A backcourt with a combined wingspan of over 13 ft is pretty appealing for me. If they do go Exum, Saric almost has to be the other guy drafted in the top ten. Gotta have a forward who can score off the dribble, and shoot from the perimeter. Gordon and Randle, I don't see as good a fit as Saric.

I think Hinkie can definitely do business with the Lakers for #7 by taking on Nash's contract. They need to get another star for Kobe to play with this summer, clearing cap space is essential. For the Lakers to move back to #10, I don't think Kupchak would be too concerned to make that move to create cap space.

the Lakers will stretch provision his contract and be rid of Nash with minimal damage and keep their pick

IMO McDermott will be a specialist in the league similar career to Matt Bonner. I don't see the value in using a top 15 pick on him. He'll be able to drain 3's in the pros, but anything more then a bench player who can be used for spacing, I believe the team drafting him will be disappointed.

I agree with you, though, I think he'll be better than the red rocket. I think he'll be a very good offensive player. His problem is that he can't guard anyone. Too slow to guard wing players and too undersized to guard big guys.

Apparently the Bucks owner effectively came out and said they are not taking Embiid at #2.

Also, Saric signed a deal which will apparently keep him in Europe for at least two more years. Dammit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the team will not take Kansas center Joel Embiid with the No. 2 pick in the NBA draft.

Embiid was projected to go No. 1 before it was revealed last week that he has a foot injury that requires surgery.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to take either Kansas guard/forward Andrew Wiggins or Duke small forward Jabari Parker with the No. 1 pick. That means Milwaukee will likely take the other.

"Our decision got a lot easier, mainly because Embiid got hurt," Lasry said.

He also said, "It's hard to take Embiid. We want somebody who is going to help us on Day 1."
