i just watched 2 youtube vids and currently stand as the worlds foremost authority on rip throughs.

Basically, a defender will put his hand on you and you rip the ball through in an awkward shooting motion and force the ref to call a foul.

Harden is the best in the league at it. They've altered the rule, but he still gets guys all the time trying to reach in.
