Agree with that assessment, I just think that Gus can better fit in for Kimmo to move the puck, that having Grossman out of the line up for anyone else...I think Coburn and grossman have been our best Defensemen, Schenn , next then it is has been a pretty big drop off and you could swap any of our guys in to see how they fit...that is my take on bringing Alt...I agree there would be some risk in that, but he is much further along in his development then say Morin...i see Alt as being a Read type player...he has been playing a while, he is not an 18 year old head case...he is 22, and played a full tour in college, so he has a bit more experience than a 2/3 year junior player...
Just saying it should be considered since the team can't play worse... - JW98FlyerFan
The problem is, Alt is likely no where near ready for the NHL yet. Spot him in a game or two, fine, but there's zero harm in letting him play big minutes in the AHL right now.
The Flyers are too aggressive with these kids, let them grow slowly. Part of the reason Detroit finds guys in later rounds is they let them stay in the AHL for years and are usually fully ready to step in.
The Flyers bring a guy like JvR along quickly, then get pissed when he's not consistent and ship him off.
Gustafsson and Schenn...well the future is now for them. They can't go back to the AHL, so the might as well play. |

One was Gardiner/Reimer/1st. - MunsterMike
For me to even consider, it would have to be JVR, Reily, and 2 firsts. |

It's not as if Alt was tearing up the AHL and he was bashing down the Flyers' door with his play. I don't understand the premise of bringing him up "just because". |

I don't think it should be considered at all. |

Depends if your doing a true rebuild. Look what Kessel brought Boston. A Cup. Seriously though you get a top line winger, A future top line defenseman.... one that would look great next to Morin and 2 firsts to go with 2 deep drafts coming up. |

Fair enough, I assume you are writing this season off too? I have (I will still watch every game I can, but my expectations are set...)
I guess I am torn watching slow and steady (best plan as you state) and the big moves homer may try to pull off when we really don't know what Alt or some of the other Phantoms can do and the real issues are not being addressed, i.e. sitting gus and Schenn, but not Kimmo...kimmo will be gone this year and Shenn and Gus won't...so who should sit and who should get the game minutes to work out the issues in learning Chief's system...

Kessel was not the face of that franchise nor was he their best player. |

Kessel wasn't Boston's centerpiece. It's tempting, but I'll say no. |

I see what you are saying. But Claude is only 25, so he's young enough to rebuild around, we know what he is capable of.
I'm going to step out there and say that he isn't the 2nd coming of the collapsing of Heatley/Cheechoo. |

Ask the bartenders and security at Xfinity or Irish Pub @ 20th & Walnut.
I don't want this coming back to me and end up getting manhunted by Homer.
They're just chasing tail every night, like EVERY night. Like i said....tough to blame them, but you get like 6 months of every year off, lets see some focus you clowns. |

Not writing this year off as much as I am saying not to rush guys just because the team is struggling.
I think Alt is probably a couple years away. Konan is a fringe guy, Lauridsen probably a. 6th defenseman..I have much higher hopes for Morin, Hagg, Ghostisbehere & Alt than Lauridsen & Konan |

Young rich atheletes eschew the work ethic and talent that got them rich and laid in the first place?
Let me know how long that cycle stays positive. Ohhh right, we're dead last in the conference with no goals out of a guy who is promised 8.25 for the foreseeable future. You're right. I'm being silly.......... |
