per Bill's addition of Vinny checking in and reporting on Steve Downie....that guy just oozes class and is everything a captain should be. he's been doing it on the ice and giving it up for his teamates.
obviously Giroux could have done it and no one reported, but this is the time for the captain to step up and be MORE visible in public...especially if he's been INVISIBLE on the ice. i hope the kid is learning. |

By the way, this will please many of you: I will not be here for a while.
Wife's at 2cm and getting induced tomorrow. Next time I'm on here, I will most likely be babbling more incoherently than usual due to sleep deprivation. - jmatchett383
Best of luck!
If it is a boy please start him now on how to skate backwards and how to make a good outlet pass.

The 2nd line of Voracek - BSchenn - Simmonds was actually my ideal 2nd line (chemistry-wise) before the season started. |

By Who? Two years after becoming captain he put up 102 pts in 64 games....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Yzerman
Then they got two cups.
I got it. You're thinking of GM, he was viewed as a weak GM. nowwwww it makes sense. - Ferrarimn7
By a lot of people.
There were very strong rumours that Yzerman was going to be traded to Ottawa.
In my humble opinion, you shouldn't make any guy under about 27-28 captain.
Yeah, maybe Crosby. Maybe. |

Bobby Clarke was successful as a young captain. As was Crosby. Toews had success despite his relative youth. |

Depends if your doing a true rebuild. Look what Kessel brought Boston. A Cup. Seriously though you get a top line winger, A future top line defenseman.... one that would look great next to Morin and 2 firsts to go with 2 deep drafts coming up. - youarewrong
Hahahaha......Hamilton hardly played in the POs and Sequin wasn't a world beater. Thomas, Chara great team D won the Cup, not the players acquired in the Kessel deal |

Just listened to the podcast, it's pretty tough listening to that assessment of our blueline again. A torpedo is the perfect way to describe the Pronger loss. It's going to be tough to get the back end in order, and it's not going to be quick. |

A few minor tweaks will go a long way. Getting one of Coburn or Grossman out for a D man with some speed will be a huge help. Same goes for Timonen. They cannot ignore the need for a 1A much longer though. They have a wealth of Centers and all of their picks. Theyve got to pull the trigger at some point or they're going to be waiting a lonnnnngggg time for Morin to maybe develop into a top pairing guy. |

Coburn's probably the fastest defensemen that the Flyers have. Streit is better with the puck, but he's not especially fast. Timonen's lost step means he's about as fast as Coburn now. Gustafsson can skate well, but he's barricaded in the press box now, so the slow Meszaros & Gill can play.
They might be able to use Laughton to justify a trade of Schenn or Couturier to get that defenseman. |

Congrats to both of you! Best of luck to you and your new found love of Coffey...since we have beeen discussing D-Men...thought throwing that in there was appropriate!
Congrats again, here is to a safe arrival and maybe even a big win tonight!
Edit: my two little girls love to run around in thier Flyers jersey...it was a proud day when they both came running down stairs with them on when they saw the game was on...without prompting! I knew i had raised two new fans! |

They can have 6 burners back there, but that still doesn't mean goals will come. |

Ha. No way do I think Timo is as fast as coburn still. He's lost more than one step and is painfully slow.
Just like trading JVR will be a mistake; trading Cooter may be a bigger one. |
