Ron Wilson already tried that approach w/ Schenn... all he got was the kid caught in a endless downward spiral.
Season's on the brink anyway... just let the kid play out of the current funk. - Tomahawk
I don't have a problem with it right now, but in general I agree. If he continues to struggle, shifting him in and out of the pressbox won't help him. |

27 SOG in 13 games. That is unacceptable.

If he's not one of the best 6 defensemen, he shouldn't be playing. |

The entire team has lost its grit. Our 4th line can cycle the puck and get sustained o pressure better than any other line. Rinaldo is our fastest skater so far this year. Its sad. - Flyersgod
Wasn't impressed in the slightest with that New Jersey game. Jersey is a freaking mess. I dont know what the fix is. I just know that the fix, if done right, will take a long time

In all fairness, during the Rangers game, he was firing everything that came his way. Granted, they all hit Rags' player's shin pads... |

Is it me, or has LSchenn been in the dog house since camp started?
I can't think of any games you can point to this year and say that any particular game put him in the dog house. It seems like he's been in said dog house before the games started to count this year. |

It's below his per game shot total last year and well below the per game shot total from his 93 point season. |

I thought the Devils should have won that game. They failed to capitalize at least 4 times on wide open point blank chances where they simply missed the net. Had Emery dead to rights and just didn't capitalize.
The Flyers lucked out.

I noticed that too, and a lot of it had to do with him taking too long to shoot.

I'd actually be okay with that. But couldn't we just get a 2nd rounder instead of Hemsky? I really don't like him. |

good point, thats exactly what i was thinking, didnt he used get the puck and drive the net? go into corners and fight for the puck? i remember all these attributes but have not seen them since he dumped crosby and scored in the playoffs 2 years ago - mydoglicks
This is the last time we saw an "elite" Giroux IMO

The fact that Bill has to post a blog dedicated to Hal Gill earning his way into the lineup, and now Timmay has an article on Gill's impressive play, tells you all you need to know about the state of the Flyers. |

Actually, contrary to hockeybuzz belief, Coburn's been the team's best defenseman (by a lot) over the past about 6 games. |

With all the games this team has lost being down one, tied, or up one going in to the third, just think about where we might be if Giroux had 3 or 4 goals like he should have by this point?
Same can be said of many other players as well, but he is the Captain, the "best player" so to speak. And it starts with him. It HAS to.

Berube must be delighted with the veritable buffet of quality players at his disposal when he goes to make his lineup before every game.
Hmmmm, who to insert put into the lineup... 38-year-old Hal Gil... out-of-shape Luke Schenn... Jekyll & Hyde Gustafsson... or Meszaros, a guy who's only dressed in 18-games over the past 18-months?
What a delightful assortment of riches. - Tomahawk
And when Lecavalier, and Downie get their skulls tap danced on, just slide Rosehill in!
An embarrassment of riches. |

I agree with this. He has been up on his skates, carrying the puck more. Making good plays.

Personally, I give Berube credit for having the guts to scratch Schenn for continued subpar play.
Bill, when are you going to comment on the HORRIBLE play of Kimmo then and demand he is in the pressbox as well...he looks like a vintage 1990's clutch and grab machine...he is done, Flyers should have walked away last year...but I doubt you will comment on that, because I doubt we can say anything bad about him since this is last skate around the rink...He has been horrible and at 6M is killing us...
Great job standing up and giving praise to the Chief when he sits a guy that is slow...ALWAYS...Speed has never been part of Schenn's game...it is not a switch you flip, and by all accounts, luke is trying his damnest to work on it...
I also noted that after the trashing they took at Washington, Chief's response was..."I don't have the answer...it is up to the payers now" tells me all I need to know how far Chief can really take this team with the misfits Ed and Homer put together...
I bleed Black and Orange and am utterly embarassed at the team the GM put together...If it wasn't for Mason we would probably only have 2 points and everyone would really see what non-puck moving cones we have out there on D. Give me Oliver, Gus and Alt every night so they can learn and grow for next season... |
