Ive been following them since 71 or so and I completely agree with you! - BiggE
The sad part is teams that suck have possible good things to look forward to, Flyers don't have anything. Sure they have a few young defensemen 3-4 years away from making their first mistakes in the NHL, but they aren't game changers, just plug ins. |

Players have slumps, NOT a full team! - Glak18
yeah. i do feel for you guys on that one. im just saying, his scoring slump isnt as alarming to me as his overall play and attitude. he is too talented for this to be acceptable. |

Flyers need to lose a little grit in the forwards, and gain some speed and skill.
the only one who looked like he knew what he was doing offensively was Jake. |

Hey do me a favor and get Mario to call Mr. Snider. Ask him to explain that being a mediocre team that makes the playoffs just about every year is great and all, but sometimes teams have to cleanse to build for the future. |

they really need couturier and schenn to take that next step. whether they will do it or not is obviously up for debate, but on some teams those guys would just be entering their first full time nhl season now. since theyve already been up for seemingly forever its hard to view them in the "prospect" sense, but they arent too far removed from it |

No the story should be about why the city of philadelphia keeps pushing good players as superstars. I get they need someone to sell, but as soon as that Pittsburgh series was done and everyone was putting him in the same breath as the best in the league I knew he was tainted. - Glak18
Sorry. None of what you wrote has anything to do with what he does (or doesn't do) on the ice.
All the talk about "captain" and "best player in the world". Just smoke and mirrors. |

I thought they overpaid G by about 500K-750K and Timo by 1.5M-2.5M, but obviously I was being generous.

No..we need more checking forwards..more defensively responsible players. We can beat every team 1-0..
So annoyed right now...I love hockey..Im a Flyers fan..Im dont want to watch the game Thursday night but I will because im stupid and I realize that this offensive slump won't continue forever. |

whether you hold most of the questionable decisions (not to bust balls, but there have been a few) against holmgren or snider himself, i still say he has been one of the best owners in sports. there has never been a time in which you could question his commitment to wanting to win. that is such a valuable thing in sports. even now, struggling as they are, it cant be said to be by apathy by ownership (not saying thats what you said, but still) other than his jerk off comcast prices, i have a good amount of respect for snider. |

I understand what Chief is doing. Flyers have been invisible in the 3rd. Chief in turn drills them to work them through it. It's like a wrestling team that does a full workout coming into a full competition date. They are not only slow, they are playing with dead legs, IMHO.

a professional sports organization should have the flyers on the best supplements to help them recover and repair for the game |

That's the problem with the Flyers. Majority of teams that win or start winning have young guys step up and start playing right away. Flyers organization seem to think young guns have until they are 27 to showing who they are. Later 20's being the prime age for a hockey player is over and has been for a while. Guys in their early 20's gotta start playing good hockey while their contract is low or the team doesn't do crap.
Examples….
Reference Stanley Cup winners and teams with consistently good records. All players are producing early. |

Of course it's smoke and mirrors because he isn't and never was one of the best in the world. Good player no doubt, franchise player no. |

Other than artificial means the human body can only recover so fast. I'm not saying this is the main issue. In fact this should pay dividends down the line. We all fell in love with the goal scoring ability of some of these players, but that was at the expense of defense. Inject a defense first coach and it will take time. |

Ummm 26 years old was his age, yup. The point, I'm not talking about the NHL in 2000. It's 2013 now. Was Kane and Toews 28 when they came in the league? |

i do see your point. i honestly think the salary cap has a lot to do with that, as younger guys on ELCs offer a lot of flexibility. as far as talent and development goes, the wings and devils had no problems making guys bide their time until they hit 22 or 23. im just saying. having to hear how coots absolutely owned malkin for an entire offseason made me sick, and i think schenn is a god damn punk. but im just saying, it is far to early to brand them busts and throw them onto the scrapheap |
