I don't mind Gill being in the line-up. But I would sit Mez and Timmonen after last game and let Gus and Schenn play. Of course that's just me. - FlyersGrace
Gill hasn't played bad. But he and Meszaros aren't part of the future, while Gustaffson and Schenn are still in the process of being evaluated.
Berube is in save his job mode already.
Betting odds show Berube as the 6th choice to be fired. This not even a month after he was hired. What a debacle. |

This team really lacks talent. Changing lines or sitting certain players will have no effect. they just don't have enough talent. |

It's how you handle an older player not a prospect. - mayorofangrytown
Exactly. If McGinn was 28 and unable to cement a 3rd line role, the trade him. Right now, there's no need. Honestly, getting as much as they have from him is more than they expected a year or two ago. |

1) trade all forwards except Coots, Schenn and Laughton for high draft picks and all-star defenders
2) tank for a few seasons
3) assemble new lineup with all young 1st round centers
4) diversity sux, redundance rules!! |

I keep him, unless somebody gives me full value in trade. Dumping an asset because he's not in plans right now is bad way to handle it. - Jsaquella
I don't think he can even establish his value, more than he already has, because they're not going to give him enough games to do so.
He's not too old to make it and I agree they shouldn't just give him away, but at the same time, I honestly just don't see where they want to use him. If/when Steve Downie comes back, there's one more guy he'd have to go through, and it's just not happening for him.

Looks like L. Schenn scratched again tomorrow night. The coach thinks Hal Gill gives the team a better chance to win. That says it all. - PLindbergh31
I am just so sickened by their decisions. I mean, I don't mean to pick on Newberry but come on! why not let kids like McGinn play? great so Rosehill/Newberry-Hall-Rinaldo will get 3 mins a game so they kill the other 3 lines. Schenn and Gustafsson were good last year when they played big mins for the most part and the minute they struggle they sit but yet they throw the guys out there who won't be back next year whether they are playing horrible or not. I am so beside myself with the direction of this organization and the stupidity of their decisions. as long as they won't admit this is a rebuild, they will never fix the problem.

I don't think it's about heart or effort. They just aren't very good. Their defense is one of the 5 worst in hockey. |

I just keep hoping that they will wake up and realize a 4th line of Raffl-Hall-McGinn can play 10 minutes and not kill you with dumb penalties |

I'm with you. Couldn't agree more. Nothing wrong with playing Mcginn on a 4th line for 8-9 minutes a game.
Schenn has played terribly, and Gustafsson has had stuggles as well. It's a confidence issue most likely, I don't see how sitting them helps. It's not like they deserve to be reprimanded for missing team meetings, or not giving effort. |

If he's the one wanting Kris Newbury up in an attempt to save his job, then he's not going to figure out how to win enough games to do that. |

He hasn't even established himself as a scoring forward in the AHL. Maybe he should do that first before you start putting him in the NHL playing to Giroux's left.
And that's coming from someone who thinks he can still develop into a solid NHL winger at 23. |

Tye McGinn was drafted in the 4th round. Him playing or not is not a big deal to me. L Schenn was traded for a 30 goal per season (2nd overall pick). Let him play and get his growing pains in now.

yea cause your 4th line is supposed to be relied on for scoring
genius - 2Real
the 4th line needs to be able to contribute and be NHL (frank)ing players. God I am fuming over this organization |

well part of that could be based on Homer being fired. a new GM could mean bringing in his own coach. never know |

He's supposed to be nearing the end of his growing pains by now. He's been in the league 5 years. We should at least be able to count on him as a steady top 4 guy.
I still think he turns things around. He's the top of players who plays better when given more minutes. |

That I do agree with, but people seem more upset that he isn't playing as opposed to 2 young defensemen the are rotting away in the Shelly suite.

Easy there...all I said was that he's fine on the fourth line, not that he's the answer to all of the Flyers' ills. But whether he should be on the fourth line, first line, whatever line, the fact remains that for this team, this year, he has the most goals of anybody not named Vincent Lecavalier.
He's established what he can do moreso than some other players on the roster, this year. |
