It's the same anywhere.
I do think that the JvR blowback is, at least, partly the return the Flyers got. I like Luke Schenn, and I think he played great last year, but I see the issues that Leafs fans mentioned. JvR has played far more consistently as a Leaf than as a Flyer, and the early returns are that the Flyers made a bad deal in both value for an asset and in terms of filling a need.
But right now, if I'm trading Schenn or Couturier, the return had better be a guy with the potential to be a top line sniper or a top pair defenseman - Jsaquella
Agreed, I just don't want to unfollow people over there that I'd be re-following later anyway. Too much drama.
Anyhoo, I agree. They overpaid or undersold in the JVR trade. |

I think it's the perception that's keeping him from making a trade. I think Holmgren stays as GM for the season, regardless of finish.
I disagree with Schenn and Couturier going to the AHL to gain confidence. They have to play through it. Getting sent down could hurt their confidence more than staying and toughing it out.
Also, as of 5 games ago, Couturier is no longer exempt from waivers. So if he gets sent down, he'd have to clear waivers. Schenn has 8 games left before he's has to clear waivers to be sent to the AHL. That's per capgeek's waivers calculator - Jsaquella
funny enough what people seem to forget is that Schenn is actually tied with Vinny and Giroux for 7 points leading the team in scoring |

I agree on Couturier. You can tell he's stronger and more confident w/the puck. I wish offensively he'd be a little more patient w/it on his stick and take it to the net (hell I wish all of the players would go to the net). I think he's waiting to break out. Something bothers me about Schenn, not sure what it is, I still see him cheat a bit and lose some puck battles. - flyguy12
My concern with B Schenn is that he will be 22 by the end of the season. If you stick with him into next year, and he doesn't make some big strides, his trade value will quickly start to drop. That's why I'd be ok with moving him in a deal for a top pair dman. Couturier OTOH, is still only 20 and is obviously still growing into his frame. As a good defensive player and penalty killer, he is able to contribute to the club even when not scoring. Plus, as Jsaq has already pointed out, he is only now finally getting a chance to play with other skilled players on a regular basis. For that reason, I would be VERY leery about trading him unless he is part of a deal to bring in a legit #1 dman under the age of 30. |

45 Kris Newbury or 37 Jay Rosehill - 18 Adam Hall - 36 Zac Rinaldo
I know the Flyers view McGinn as a top 6 or bust player but I see no reason why the kid can't play on the 3rd or 4th line. - nastyflyergirl
Agreed, if their current 4th line played 82 games, they'd be lucky to score all of 5 goals. Pathetic! |

When Downie comes back, do they return ROFL to the Phantoms? - johndewar
I certainly hope not. Send Newbury back down and let Rosehill get comfy in the Shelley/Cote suite instead.

Resigned.
I'm resigned that I'm going to see another boring 2 - 1 game.
I'm resigned that I'm going to be frustrated watching this team again.
Just resigned. |

Begats of Biblical proportions.
All I expect tonight is a game so boring there's a very real chance I watch something else and turn it back on toward the end. I hope I'm wrong.
And the Giroux watch extends to Game 15...when will he show up?

The progress in Couturier's game has been evident.
I agree both are good prospects, and that expectations are unrealistic...or at least the timetables have been.
It's funny on twitter that people lambast the Flyers for trading JvR & not having patience and turn around a minute later saying they need to trade Couturier. I'm open to trading anyone if it makes the team better, but Couturier and Schenn need to be sold high, if at all. - Jsaquella
I'd trade anybody for the right price, but sometimes, some money isn't the same as others.
I wouldn't move Couturier for anything less than a premium -- and that's not me overrating him. That's me saying that there's no way in hell I'm selling low on a 6-4 centerman who is likely going to play at 215 pounds.
Couturier may wind up being a bust. And I acknowledge that. I have absolutely no reason to offer, offensively, as to why I wouldn't move him.
But for me, I'd lose my job over not trading him, at 20, 21, 22, 23 years old. I wouldn't do it. I'd give him multiple wingers, offensively gifted ones, go through 20 sets of wingers first.

Understandable
I just want to see progress from game to game. Yes, Homer put the team together but if they are not performing is it the players or the GM's fault.?
I actually would look to scratch Kimmo for a game...
If they are going with youth, then keep it that way.
Flyer fans have never been a patient group. |

Resigned to this being a boring game because of the teams playing.
Hopeful that this is the game where the offense comes to life.
Firm in my belief that Giroux will show up soon, possibly tonight, and play like the player he has proven he is vs the player he is now. |

Hope this answers the question:
CBA Summary of terms:
“No Move/No Trade Clauses that are negotiated as part of a contract extension may become effective immediately upon execution of, but prior to the effectiveness of, the extension contract, provided:
a) The Player is otherwise currently eligible to have a No Move/No Trade Clause, and
b) The Club with whom the contract extension is entered into agrees to make the No Move/No Trade Clause effective immediately upon execution of the extension contract.” |

I do that on my main account but follow almost anything hockey related on my hockey only account.
Aside: I showed M4 my two accounts and he laughed hysterically when he saw how I used the same/mirror image avatars for them. Poor kid. So easily amused... |
