I like what you're saying here. It's just hard to think of watching this for 2-3 more years. I could be ok with the team not winning if they showed they cared and were putting in an effort. This team seems to do neither.
I'm still watching but I find myself using the DVR and watching the game on fast forward. That way I waste less time and get to be angry faster. This team makes it impossible to watch a whole game and that is sad. I wish this team would show more respect for the Flyers logo. - LJF
I just find it hard to believe they don't care. I think they have pride. I worry its a large part about lack of confidence and that they are that fragile.

As I was crying myself to sleep last night, I was thinking back to where this went wrong and I go back to the Richards/Carter trades. Flyers had a ton of talent @ the center position w/Richards/Carter/Giroux/Briere. So I can understand moving your two top end guys, the promlem lies in that they didn't trade for what they needed, which was/is young top end defensemen. Simmonds, Schenn, Voracek and Couturier, that was the return. In hindsight they should've gone after a guy like Voynov instead of Schenn and probably taking a guy like Hamilton w/the Couturier pick. |

I'm still astounded that people think throwing a bunch of young kids into a fire like this is a good idea. They will get crushed, along with their confidence. 1-2 players at a time is one thing. If you have injuries, you have no choice. But icing an AHL team over any period at all will make the present and future worse. - jmatchett383
I don't think you do that until March/April. |

I don't see Berube as the problem.
I like the way he handles his interviews, I like that he has benched players, that he is trying to move lines around to spark something. You could bring Scotty Bowman in here and it does't fix this teams weaknesses.
Shea Weber at 28 is not the answer unless you can get him without gutting your team..For those still calling for that move.
Their are 3 players I wouldn't trade unless the Flyers clearly and I mean clearly are making out in that trade: Giroux, Voracek and Mason. Everyone else including Datsyuk V2 should be looked at as to how they most benefit the team..staying here and developing or moving them for assets.
Assuming they continue to suck for the love of 2Real and everything angry in the world I do not want to see them winning 5 meaningless games dropping them out of a top 5 pick . |

They did it in sparta....trial by fire...Maybe icing a ahl team for a few games will embarrass the hell out of some. |

Drastic, but do-able.
Mason straight up for Yakupov. With the way Mason has been playing, and the way Dubnyak has been playing... I know it will be tough moving Mason.
Simmonds + Conditional 1st round pick for Miller. If Miller re-signs Flyers give 2015 first. If not 2nd round in 2015.
Coburn, Read, Laughton, 2014 2nd for Byfuglien & Little.

If I was confident in the GM not to trade away picks and to guild this team the right way I would be just fine with losing for 2-3 years to build this back up and believe me, as a lonnnnnggg time fan, its hard to keep seeing other teams win and dying to see a cup here. I want this done the right way. Yes, its Nov and I am thinking trade deadline and that is SAD but I really don't see this group turning things around. I could be wrong and I hope I am but I am losing faith. I don't get how they can play like they did in the first period and a half against a very good ducks team then look as inept as they have since. It boggles my mind
I would take whatever I could get for every UFA. Maybe keep Downie if you can get something for Simmonds or Hartnell (not that I remotely think that can happen). I would think knowing Timonen is probably playing his last season, he would be willing to waive at the deadline to get that last shot at a cup and I hope he gets it. its too soon to call guys up now as you still have to try to win but by March i want to get a look see at some of the Phantoms. I'd call McGinn up now and just let the kid play even if its on the 4th line. God I'd love to see a 4th line with the likes of a healthy wellwood centering Raffl or Mcginn and Rinaldo.
I am so frustrated with this team. I won't stop watching but I am becoming numb to the losses and that in itself says a lot. - nastyflyergirl

Thats down right scary... as in, that team would be terrible.
And to boot.. we would be giving up a good first round pick in 15 and a 2nd... have we not learned our lesson?
Also, giving up Mason for Yak is prolly not the best idea |

I think it's wrong to trade mason when you think you may have a young good goaltender. I don't want miller at all. Why get older there when this team is young and building? Keep mason, IMO.

I think what it came down to was Briere had a NMC. Besides at the time Pronger was healthy and Timonen wasn't OLD yet. So the Defense looked really good.
Should have just made Carter play RW.

Well, aside from the fact that the salary cap makes it impossible, I don't think there's a single player on the Phantoms who could be called an NHL-ready player. Most of the Flyers have proven, at least in the past, that they are/can be. |

I think we need a pure goal scorer. Someone that can take the extra coverage from Giroux. Much like Jagr did 3 years ago. Give Giroux more space and time, he will make a play or score a goal. There would be no stopping that line. |

Maybe if Voracek played like 12/13 Voracek we wouldn't have that issue. He sure looked like a bonafide #1 winger last year and had been improving every year. |
