i know im going to get flack but here goes:
Giroux for Jones, Forsberg, + a first
Lecav to TO for Gardiner
Hartnell/Simmonds + coburn for Yaks, - PhillaBully
It will be interesting to see if Vinny wants to go if things don't change. Of course that said, you have to find a taker for the contract. not that I want to move him. there is a need to have a few veterans if they decide to blow this up |

you dont think Nashville will do that? - PhillaBully
I think Nashville might, but their salary cap wouldn't after we just stuck them with that Weber deal. |

Jones alone would probably cost more than Giroux, imo. Thank god the Flyers won those 4 games at the end of the season or it might be other teams calling us about Jones. |

I think we need a pure goal scorer. Someone that can take the extra coverage from Giroux. Much like Jagr did 3 years ago. Give Giroux more space and time, he will make a play or score a goal. There would be no stopping that line. - youarewrong
I really think they will be able to draft someone. Its been forever since they had a young goalie. I don't want to see them move him |

I think it's wrong to trade mason when you think you may have a young good goaltender. I don't want miller at all. Why get older there when this team is young and building? Keep mason, IMO. - funmaster18
I know. As much as I want to keep Mason, I think sell high. How many times have we had a young goalie look good for 1 year, then bottom out? Niity, Bob, Boucher... I don't know... I just really think Yakupov is the answer for Giroux, and a path for this team to make the cup in the next few years. It would be a high scoring team. Strong top 3 lines, with an energy 4th line with some pop. |

No but at this point i would sit out some of the NHL players and tell them they are not worthy to wear the crest... - PhillaBully
So you want to throw a bunch of young players in a position to fail? |

Get rid of young players/picks. It's worked pretty well for them so far. - jmatchett383
But your keeping voracek, both schenns, and couturier and picking up yakupov.... That is a pretty young core... Plus you still have Cousins and all the defensive prospects. |

either fail or be pleasantly surprised. Even failure can be a powerful teacher to the young. |

Also, Edmonton came out and flat-out denied the Yakupov rumors. I'm amazed that people actually ran with that media-created circus. - jmatchett383
The COACH denied it. Not the GM. And our GM denied trading Carter the day before it went down. |

Funny, McGinn has 24 games played in the NHL and has 6 goals, +1, 23 PIMs. Say what you want that he is not productive in some games, but he has been over the course of 24 games, many in which is was pushed to the 4th line.
This year he is the type of player that you want to see over the long haul IMO. He chips in offensively, doesn't hesitate to help a teammate and doesn't take "Hartnell" type penalties.
The Flyers suck, let some young guys play.
The team is so bad a guy that play 6 games is still tied for #2 on your team in goals. LoL |

A powerful teacher of lessons such as, "You're not good enough, bumhole. You probably won't ever be, either." |

Fair point. Once these guys are set for life they lose their work ethic. - PLindbergh31
Hmm
Seems to me Zdeno Chara, Jonathan Toews, Pavel Datsyuk, and many others are pretty set for life, but still working hard |

The beauty of this is they still get to keep the 2014 draft pick, so they could still draft them. |

I think what it came down to was Briere had a NMC. Besides at the time Pronger was healthy and Timonen wasn't OLD yet. So the Defense looked really good.
Should have just made Carter play RW.
JVR-Giroux-Carter
Richards-Lecavalier-Hartnell
- youarewrong
Thats the problem w/management. Timonen isn't gonna play forever & neither was Pronger, even if he didn't get hurt. These young Dmen take 3-5 years to develop and thats on the quick end of the scale. There is no plan, no prospects in the pipeline. If they were trading Carter and Richards, they should've done a full rebuild, not this patchwork BS. |

I'm still astounded that people think throwing a bunch of young kids into a fire like this is a good idea. They will get crushed, along with their confidence. 1-2 players at a time is one thing. If you have injuries, you have no choice. But icing an AHL team over any period at all will make the present and future worse. - jmatchett383
I dunno.. NJDs iced a mostly AHL team and shut us out. |

I think you are right. The flyers would've been tied in points with the Preds but i think Preds own the tie breaker. |

For what its worth from Eklund's latest blog ..
"Also, I am hearing a big day could be ahead in Metropolitan division news...stay tuned for that. "
Jeez ... wonder what that could possibly be in reference to ... |

You know what, I can't do this. It seems all logic and rational thought has been thrown out the door for dream trades and player damnation. I'll stop back in a week when perhaps a sense or reason has returned. |
