I'm willing to give Hextall a shot, FWIW, the Flyers seemed to make a lot more questionable moves after Hextall left to go to LA. - BiggE
Tbh. This is the only reason ill give legitimacy too but he's been here for some dumb moves too. |

Here's a thought
They are NOT making the playoffs this year no matter what moves they make so I would rather see them do the following:
1. Fire Holmgren, replace with Hextall. Time for a new man at the helm
2. Wait til the deadline to move as many vets as possible, that is when you will get the most for them.
3. At the end of the season, hire Dave Poulin as head coach with Terry Murray as associate coach, the only assistant coach they should keep is Lappy. Offer Berube the head coaching spot in Allentown, this mess is not his fault.
4. Do NOT trade picks and young prospects, realize that it will take a couple of years to fix this mess and the way to do it is to build through the draft. It would be foolish to give up boatloads of high picks, young players, and top prospects to get 28-31 year old top pair dmen. HAVE PATIENCE! - BiggE
This is going to be my new motto, so get used to hearing it. Some people think all young players are like eggs. Sit on them long enough and Wayne Gretzky will hatch and all your problems are solved.
Point being, if your patient with the wrong players, they will still be the wrong players after a few years.
When we traded for BSchenn, it looked like he could be a more offensive Mike Richards... but now we realize he doesn't have a great defensive game, and his offense isnt there either. He will likely be a career 2nd line player.
When we drafted Couturier, we thought with his combo of defense ability, and the offense he showed in juniors he could be like Joe Thornton, or at least Jordan Staal. Well 3 years later and there is no offense. He will likely either be a 2nd or 3rd line Center.
The point being, these guys, while you need 2nd and 3rd line players, should not stop you from making moves to aquire players that can be more. |

2 years ago we traded our captain and best goal scorer for unproven kids, and look how well that worked for us |

If schenn becomes a 2nd line player I wouldn't mind him.

I'm planning on watching Sat's game but maybe I shouldn't.
Last night was bad. Just over the top WTF bad.
Poor Mez I wanted to smack him and then give him a hug then smack him again.
I'm due a jersey for my birthday the end of this month but with no clue who is going to be here I'll just pick something non hockey related.
One of my friends was like - wow you watched the game last night? At least no one can call you a fair weather fan.
Yeah great. Our call to fame.
So Sat is G's sweet 16 game. And he WILL score! right? RIGHT?
Even Bill's blog's are beginning to sound disgusted with a team that just isn't showing up. - FlyersGrace
And that is telling since he should be used to this, coving Dallas and all.... lol

yep... I'll be making home made southern style pecan pies. Might as well throw some scotch in to make the game watchable. |

Nothing against Mason but the Oilers would never take a guy like Mason for a potential superstar in time. Mason past history still make him suspect in my opinion. If Yak was truly available for Mason I would do it in a heartbeat. There are lots of goalies available who are nhl ready that are in the AHL. Martin Jones for one is a capable starter who will never get a chance in LA. |

I mean, I guess I could pitch some stupid ideas too. Here goes!
I think the Flyers should practice without footwear this week. Maybe once they get frostbitten feet they'll appreciate skating again!
I think the Flyers should literally put management on the ice for the rest of the games. They'll learn what conditions they're putting guys in when they make decisions!
I think the Flyers should ice the "mites on ice" kids for the third period from now on. Let the kids get a taste of the NHL, get them ready for a bright hockey future today!
I think the Flyers should sign Nickelback to play on Giroux's line!
I think Flyers management should be replaced with the most restless natives on this forum, since obviously they know the secret tricks to fixing this franchise! - BulliesPhan87

So Saturday's game is at 1pm - BiggE
Generally I hate afternoon games because I have no spare time during the day on a weekend and almost always miss them.
However, given the current sorry state of affairs, I am glad this is an afternoon game because, as usual, I have things I want to do during the day. So I will miss the game and can watch hockey for the enjoyment of the game come Saturday night.
win-win for me |

Drastic, but do-able.
Mason straight up for Yakupov. With the way Mason has been playing, and the way Dubnyak has been playing... I know it will be tough moving Mason.
Simmonds + Conditional 1st round pick for Miller. If Miller re-signs Flyers give 2015 first. If not 2nd round in 2015.
Coburn, Read, Laughton, 2014 2nd for Byfuglien & Little.
