Hell man, I'm not saying they suck. I'm saying that's what it will probably take to get Eberle out of Edmonton. This isn't a vacuum. There will be GMs lined up around the corner if Eberle become available. In my considered opinion having watched far too many Oilers games in the last couple years, he's the second best player on that team. - mayorofangrytown
It was a general statement not direct reply to you. Just seems like some people want to blow up the team but expect to do so without giving up assets. I have no idea how I take that trade since I'm not extremely familiar with eberle. If your deal gets it done do you feel it's the right deal to make? |

I hear a lot of people saying Coutuier and Schenn suck then others saying trading them together is over payment. Hard to keep track anymore who's worth what.. - funmaster18
Schenn and Cooter don't suck the Flyers suck and those players need more time and direction
Schenn needs to be paired with a more mobile puck moving player and Cooter needs to be paired with a Vinny like player before I give up on them |

Joe Thornton was traded for Marco Sturm, Wayne Primeau, and Brad Stuart
I think Joe Thornton was a better player than Eberle when Joe was traded than Eberle is now - 2Real
Hockey central is talking about the Flyers and say they are going to have someone on the show to give us insight coming straight from the top... Snider or Homer going on the show? |

I see you failed your Constitution save. And have no idea that furrying and D&D are not anywhere near the same. Never saw a furry at any game I played. |

Please don't strip the c. Can a guy work through it for once? - funmaster18
Teams don't strip Cs because of slumps. They may sit a guy. Sitting the C is always seen as a kick in the pants for the team. But typically the only way a guy loses the C is through trade or a well-orchestrated passing of the torch. |

I'm for any moves that make them better. If like to hang on to coutts an Schenn too. If it makes you better in the long run then move them, but I don't know enough about eberle for this particular trade suggestion |

Mostly d20's and d12's. Those d4's and d8's are detrimental to a hands-on game. |

Or that this or another GM will be able to make trades of underperforming assets for diamonds (fully cut or in the rough). A little less magical thinking is in order. |

Yes, we all realize their goals per game average is hideous. But I don't understand how you can look at a team that had 5 of the same core players who all scored near or more than 20 goals in a full season two years ago and then because they struggled last year and are struggling to score this year somehow that means they will won't be able to do it again. That's the impression I'm getting from those who are claiming there isn't enough talent on this team.
My struggle with your claim is that it sounds like you are taking a team that wasn't able to score last year and is also struggling to score for the first few games this year and just assuming that if the Flyers iced this roster for the next four years, the result would be the same and that they would still not be able to score. That is certainly possible, but is the solution to that to just blow up the team? Doesn't that fall in line with the current Flyers philosophy of acting too quickly? I'm not the most articulate so perhaps I am too dense to understand what exactly you are saying, so if that's the case, I apologize. - mcefalu
No, you're fine -- first of all, I'm glad you didn't interpret what I said as an attack, because it wasn't. I'm honestly trying to find the right way to express it.
My concern with this roster as it currently stands is that of the young players we have who have notched 20-goal seasons -- particularly Simmonds, Read and Voracek -- it might be fair to ask if that is the anomaly in their careers and that they are not naturally gifted scorers at this level.
That does NOT mean that I am saying that they are not NHL players. They clearly are.
But what the Flyers are counting on them to be is consistent NHL point producers, with the key word in that being "consistent."
Consistent is the hardest thing in the world to be, especially in professional sports when other people are defending you. I think we have too many complementary scorers, not primary scorers, and we're asking them to do things they simply cannot do, whether it be due to youth, advancing age, or overrated ability.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that maybe we're asking too much of Wayne Simmonds to score 25 goals in a predictable pattern that helps the team win 38-45 games in a single season. Maybe Wayne Simmonds is a guy who will score goals in bunches because he tries hard, but doesn't have the instincts and natural finishing ability to do it when other teams are defending him closely.
Does that make more sense, for how I'm trying to explain it?

Snider, I guess, has been talking with Sarah Baicker and is probably making himself available to the media so he can talk about Freddie Shero, who is going to be inducted in the HHoF this weekend. |

I also am baffled at why we would strip the captaincy from Claude Giroux, but maybe I shouldn't be -- if you're the best player on a team in Philadelphia, it isn't long before you're eligible to be run out of town.
Just off the top of my head, Jonathan Toews gets to play with Patrick Kane or Marian Hossa or Patrick Sharp. Steven Stamkos gets to play with Martin St. Louis.
Claude Giroux has played with revolving wingers all year, including Michael Raffl and an AHL player in Tye McGinn who the Flyers can't seem to wait to send back down.
Again, that doesn't mean Giroux couldn't be playing better. But I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Steven Stamkos looks a lot more like Claude Giroux does right now if he's playing with Michael Raffl instead of Martin St. Louis. - AllInForFlyers
I think it would be a major mistake taking the C away and I don't think the Flyers are even entertaining that thought. if they are, I really have questions about the management. |
