I think the saying goes your preaching to the choir, but in this case I would say your preaching to Jesus himself... I have been saying big move for 3 weeks now...

If there a big trade in the works I hope it is Hextall's first piece of business as Flyers GM

Do you think Snider will just stand pat....has that ever been his style...I dont necessarily want a huge deal, but if they think Steve Downie is the answer they are more jaded then even I thought

Odds are if Holmgren pulls the trigger on a big deal, it's only likely to set them back even further.

1. GM's can smell the desperation. They will be like sharks in bloody water

2. Flyers players value are at an all-time low. You trade a player based on their current level of play, and you get back 50 cents on the dollar. See the JVR for L. Schenn deal as the perfect example.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize that Edmonton was soo good that they have such a strangle hold on us. As a matter of fact, because both teams are so bad, it will likely be a unilateral trade.... both helping eachother.

Were the Leafs so good to have a strangle hold on the Flyers when they acquired a 30 goal scoring power forward for a guy who's sitting up in the press box watching the corpse of Hal Gill skate around?

Oh I totally agree....like I said "IF" it happens we are probably gonna be upset. I still feel that it could happen and I agree it would probably set this franchise back even further. However, when Snider talks and make definitive statements like " I never remember it being this bad"...that alarms me as it should all flyers fans that have watched this organization over the years and understand the culture and how they operate

I really think their are only 3 untouchable players in this organization based on age and talent level.

1. Giroux and Voracek as forwards obviously. Mason as a goalie who at the age of 25 could be a long term solution, finally.

It would be tough for me to part with a Morin, Laughton, picks unless you are getting someone 25 or younger.

Everyone else is on the table.

Fairly one-sided analysis.

Giroux, Couts, Hartnell and many other players should be sitting with Luke in the press box based upon their on-ice performance.

I'm with you. I agree. To be honest I don't want Holmgren to make any trades. I want him shown the door. Is he all to blame? No, but he has to go.

I want Hextall in place, I want Snider to get out of his way and let him get to work. I know it's wishful thinking.

No kidding. If they scratch everyone who was playing like poop they would have to forfeit the games. Hell, it's basically what they are doing now.

Was JVR a 30 goal scorer at the time? I think most everyone thought that was an even trade....

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't it my job to make wild statements about JVR, and then you point out that he's not a 30 goal scorer until he actually scores 30 goals in a season?

No he wasn't. But he was traded after an injury plagued season. His value was at an all time low. I know JVR has 25 goals in 60 games played as a Leaf.

I thought it was a terrible trade when it happened.

He's got 25 goals in 60 games as a Leaf right?
L. Schenn is a third pairing defenseman.

No wishful thinking would be for them to get a qualified GM that has no ties with the organization and can bring in some new ideas and change the philosophy

I think putting Schenn as a 3rd pairing at 23 is a little harsh. Dmen take longer to reach their potentional. He was a top 5 pick. I'm not ready to throw him out just yet.

I don't see his skating improving to the level where he can become an elite dman, he also has very little offensive ability, and he can't move the puck very well.

Where does that leave him?

The definition of potential.

It means you aren't good now.
