My point is we already have enough potential and I'd hesitate trading a lot for another unproven player even with him being the #1 pick a couple years ago.

That being said, unfortunately nobody from the Flyers is calling me about potential trades.

You have to go back to 1999 for the last time a forward selected 1st overall didn't become at the minimum an allstar player. And only 2 forwards since before 1990. I think the odds are with yakupov.

Rick Nash is solid, but I wouldn't throw a bunch of players the other way to get him. And the other #1 forward of note is Kovy.

My hesitation is trading a known, such as Mason, for 'potential', especially since Mason is playing so well in a fairly important position.

i can understand not wanting to move mason, because he is still pretty damn young and he looks really solid. and goalie has been such a hard subject so if youre sold on one i can see why youd want to just let it be. but there is no one on the flyers defense that wouldnt be worth moving for yakupov
