Also, i think the Derek Mathers sideshow will be coming to Philly at some point late in the season. Now that Shelley's gone and Rosehill has decided to try to be a finesse player.

First, McGinn's been sent down because, aside from driving the net (which, granted, not many are doing), Raffl has been much better at every facet of the game.

If you feel the need to strip Giroux of the C, then you better just trade him for picks right now, because you're basically letting him know you've lost faith in him.

Although I'd sit him right now. He's not getting it done, and maybe he needs a real message from the top.

i thought Raffl was awful last night. he looked like a young inexperienced player who was in way over his head. he shows some flashes of offensive skill but he no where near ready to play in the nhl.

That's why I said at some point. They're still basically 2 kids learning to play against men. I see them as guys who might play in February or so, even if it's just for a taste moving forward. I have a feeling that, IF things continue like this, there may be some open slots for next year.
- jmatchett383

It'll be interesting to see them for sure. I hope in February we aren't talking about this anymore and we are thinking playoff run, but if nothing changes then it's a great opportunity to get another look at these guys before next year. Sounds like cousins could be an interesting player. I wonder if he can put it all together in the NHL.

I think Cousins could be a more skilled Talbot type. Or, maybe a better comparison is a less-skilled, smaller Laughton. But again, I don't expect to see him until later, and I hope it's a moot point because we're in a playoff hunt.

Did you see last night? They clearly didn't give a $hit, no one went to the net, it doesn't matter if your a 3rd sting goalie from Carolina, or a 41 year old Aarp card goalie from NJ, they do not care anymore & they have quit playing.
Has anyone went into the crease at all? Just a little to disturb the opposing goalie?
No, no disruption, no screens, nothing.

I agree... I've been saying this since 3 weeks into last season. Sad to see it took this beginning for a lot of these posters on here to see it. It's not going to change. It's been getting worse and will continue to get worse. Teams that " turn things around" are teams that have elite talent. Which we do not. I love g proving me right. He's no elite player. He can be a very good player but it's becoming very obvious he can only produce with players having great years. He's not carring team for long stretches. I'm just frustrated with this damn team. Ed and his "we don't need a culture change" yeah ok buddy keep thinking that you dummy as rest of league laughs at us.

Fine who are they bringing up?

That is another huge problem. The Flyers kept using their credit card (picks and prospects) until they maxed it out in a "win now" mentality.

A lot of the good Flyers teams in the past were possible because the Flyers were able to buy themselves out of free agent mistakes every year. The Flyers always went after the shiniest players and if that shiny player didn't work out, it was only money and they could afford to buy another shiny new player.

I agree with the article someone posted yesterday that the Flyers still haven't fully adjusted to the cap era.

The Flyers have some good looking kids in the pipeline but the problem is that every single team has just as many or more kids in the pipeline and some of them are actually in the AHL and ready to be called up.

The reality is that most of the kids that look good now in juniors will never become regular NHLers.

So his amazing numbers in the 2010 playoff run was a direct result of playing with Asham and the rookie JvR?

All NTC/NMC on this team

Hartnell
Lecavalier
Simmonds
Giroux
Timonen
Coburn
Schenn
Grossmann

- Jimmygrazz

As I said earlier, some of these are playing like they want to be moved and out of the spotlight and out of the mess they are part of through their own ineptness or lack of " motivation". NMC or NTC is only applicable unless they go somewhere else they want to be. Frankly I would suspend anyone for doing that and the NHLPA can rot for supporting anyone who dogs it purposely
They should have shame for their robbery, but if Bryz can get piad for not playing why not them, show up and collect their millions being stupid and embarrassing themselves and the people who actually buy tickets and watch the games, the fans. What a bunch of cowards. Its an insult to dogs to calll them that and I am sorry for all canines I insulted

I still think 2006 was worse. I was just very upset with that roster. At least I like some of the players on this one.

1.) I think a trade is coming, like it or not.

2.) I was kinda hoping the Caps game was rock bottom. It wasn't. I think this game was.

3.) Prediction: When they lose to the Oil this Saturday afternoon, the "Fire Holmgren" chant will be out in full force. Afternoon games get a bit rowdier than weeknight games and I can see this getting kinda ugly on Saturday.

and many around the league have laughed at us, it's sad, you can win w/o elite talent, but hard work is the main ingredient for that, & I don't think we will see that anytime soon.
There are so many "down" factors right now it's disgusting, when your new head coach's main (X & O) philosophy is "move your feet" you know we're still in 1976.

2006 was pretty bad, but the constant getting hemmed in the d-zone and inability to score is giving this a feel of that season.

I didn't think the team in 2006 stopped playing. They just sucked.

This team has talent and they look like a bunch of employees putting in the minimal effort because they don't like their employer.

I think Simmonds might go. And I think, like (that guy who didn't score all year until he went to NYR) he will somehow "flip the switch" at his new home.

Anyone they part with will find more success elsewhere. Look at Talbot. He is already happier with THE LOCKERROOM. There is a cancer among us. Time to cut it out.
