Maybe take a run at Cluster(frank)? He seems to be in the doghouse on the Islanders and semi-redundant with Matt Martin there. - AdamFrench
We've already traded our version of Nino for Perron, and I don't wanna give up a 1st for cluster |

The oil is killing me. I have RNH and, yikes, yak in my fantasy pool. Yak CAN'T be this bad. Its impossible. |

Can the same determinable factors be applied to Bachman and Labarbera? If so, wouldn't the team defence be to blame?
Miller's not coming as he has edmonton on his list of teams he won't accept a trade to and Reimer is on fire this year.
Edmonton should be looking at Ottawa and taking action quick before Lehner usurps Anderson for the starting job. Lehner is the guy Edmonton needs.
Also Anaheim is another place Edmonton should be shopping. They have 4 possible NHL starters in their system. Hiller, Fasth, Andersen, and John Gibson. - kelholtz
Lehner is to us what Nuge is to you. No way...sorry. He's our future...and that future is very close. Andy is there to take. He's just as good. Do you want your players to think offence and worry so much about the shot on their goal. With Andy making 94% of save on shot...that will win you games. Please keep shopping and when you are ready, we will be listening.

Miller has Edm on his no trade list and has stated he doesn't want to play for a Canadian team.
I think the Ducks would be the best team to call, loaded with goalie prospects and have a 1a 1b goaltender tandem.
Heck what about some wild card teams like Min or TBL.
Also statistically is it possible to save your season with the hole you are in? The top 7 teams in the NHL are all in the west, so edm would have to magically go like .700 or something crazy just to crack a playoff spot.
Just bad news bears all over. - Meeqsb
why would we do that when we have a goalie tied for 1st in wins (in 1 less GP)and vasilevskiy coming to NA next year
top 7 in the league, talk about domination |

I thought Toronto may have been a suitable trading partner since Edmonton is in need of a goalie, and at this point Toronto is in need of a center. But the more I thought about it, I'm not sure Nonis would be willing to give up Reimer. At this point, the 1A/1B goalie situation is really working for these guys. It seems like their pushing each other pretty good (Bernier/Reimer). The only scenario I could see here is a a really good package deal that addresses both teams needs.
To Edmonton -
Reimer
Liles
McKegg
To Toronto -
Gagner
Larsen
3rd rounder
Just tossing that out there. I'm not even sure if I like that deal. But it definitely address both teams needs. - BruHAWK
Yep. Larsen and a 3rd would really address some holes on ECHL affiliate.

save % and corsi is deceiving with this Oilers team. They out shoot there opponent yet sendom get quality shots because there either boxed out, or there trailing and there opponent sits back. As for Dubnyk or any Oilers goaltender, the reason they have a poor Save % this year is there defense isnt that good, they always give up the big play compared to there opponent. Basically you dont get good enough in close shots and you leave your goalie out to dry more often then not. Small teams dont penetrate defensive schemes as well. The team is flawedly constructed, to blame Dubnyk would be a cop out to the reality of the situation. |

Our defense by all accounts is significantly better than last year.
It's entirely possible that our forward core is worse defensively.
Dubnyk is definitely playing much much worse. We're actually allowing fewer shots than last year |

I actually think it's worse offensively, which is wierd. You need to score more than 2 goals on 40 shots in this league to have a chance of winning. Unless, you are boring like the Rangers, New Jersey et al.
The Oil could be 2nd last in the conference for goals for (depending on Nashville's games in hand, although i doubt they score many in those games). With the high picks Edm have had recently, you'd have thought goalscroing wouldn't be as hard as it seems. |

On a bright note (the only one?), how about that Taylor Fedun guy? I'm loving that he finally got his chance and has 2 goals in 2 games played. I remember watching his rehab videos on the Oiler's webpage. Such a feel-good story |

Well there hasn't been a game this year where our much-touted top 6 of Eberle, Hall, Yakupov, Gagner, Perron and Nuge have played together (most games at least two of them have been out), but that shouldn't really be a big excuse.
We've definitely hit sophomore slumps for Yak and Justin.
5 on 5 looked great to begin the year but has dried up. I think we generated some amazing chances last night but finishing was tough against a hot goalie. Also, I kind of feel like for an offensively-oriented team like the Oil, if your PP is not working, then you can't really get your mojo going. It needs serious work. |
