The first deal is a fair one, but frankly I wouldn't do it because Reimer's liable to make that a #8 pick...which isn't enough, IMO. If it was a top 4 then I do it and Edmonton would be nuts not to.

The second deal isn't terrible, but I don't think Percy's making the NHL as more than a 5-6 guy and Gauthier is still a project.

I know Oiler fans will reject both these deals because they over-value everything they have outside of Smid, Hemsky, Gagner and Dubnyk.

With all sarcasm aside, though, Larsen has outperformed Schultz to this point and has likely earned a spot among the top-4 Dmen for at least the near future. This'll give Schultz the opportunity to play easier minutes while learning to play D.
